Hey guys I was informed we all need to change our .com's to .eu asap there was some problems with renewing the .com due to the Kentucky thing.

I do not believe for one minute that anything regarding the failed Kentucky case will result in domain restrictions in the .com space.

Strange. They either forgot to renew or at the time when the domain grab was on, they handed over their domain without legally having to and now can't get it back.

I saw the email and thought the Kentucky thing was a load of crap... Someone trying to shift blame. My guess is the problem being the fact the domain contact is in Washington state - which has strict laws against online casinos.

As you can see, the address is there for the privacy information.

Since this domain has only JUST expired, it would be listed in the 30 day "redemption" period which most registrars would allow the buy-back from the loosing registrant for $100...

Close but no cigar.

The domain was due to be renewed just after the Kentucky BS. Enom 'froze' the domains that they had and the owners could not renew them while they were on the hold. The date shown on whois reflects the end of the redemption period, June . Redemption is $160 not $100.

I speak as an Enom ETP and Casinoshare/Playshares registrar

Thanks Nascar, I didn't realize the date that it actually expired.

And the redemption price is actually different at different registrars. I have actually gotten names for clients in the past for regular price so often the Registrar has a bit of leeway...bomut thanks for clarifying what Enom policy is on this situation.

The Kentucky seizure attempt failed months ago. That is a dead issue.
There should be NO restrictions whatsoever on renewing any of the domains on that original list.
Other .coms on that original list still work just fine.

This appears to be a simple failure to renew in a timely fashion.
For 160 bucks they should be able to retrieve the domain.

I suppose I resent the assumption, {via that Email}, that they feel the affiliate community will believe this is all due to the Kentucky thing that was struck down by the courts months ago.

I believe this is true and you should definitely change your links asap. Changing links means your visitors will actually get to the casino. If you leave them as they are and they say casinoshare.com, your visitors will never reach the site.

Hi there,

It appears that our initial e-mail has created a bit of a stir on this forum, so I'd like to clarify a few things that may have contributed to the initial uncertainty.

Whilst the initial appeal of the Kentucky case was won, there has been a counter appeal. The court ordered that no details regarding the related domains should be changed pending the outcome of the counter appeal. Direct control of the casinoshare.com domain is still held by the registrar pending the completion of the case. This means that the casino operators are not able to manually modify or update the domain in any what whatsoever.

Casinoshare.com hasn’t expired but has been pointed to different DNS servers. This was not approved by the operator at all and, in fact, it is in breach of the order, as the domain must stay in its original state during the course of the case.

I have been assured by the casino operators that the issue is being taken up with the registrar, and we hope to have casinoshare.com back up and running in the very near future. However, this could take a while and the best way to guarantee that your traffic makes it to the casino is to change your links to casinoshare.eu

I hope this helps clear the situation up somewhat. Apologies for the lack of detail in the initial e-mail to our affiliates at the weekend - it was obviously imperative to inform everyone as soon as possible, and we were working with the information we had at hand at the time.
