Best VPS performance/cost?

hello guys, I want to understand which is the best VPS service in your opinion - cause we have a website near 100k monthly visit which stays on a shared hosting and evaluating if/when to move on a VPS service instead.
Any suggestion here? appreciated

For OP: what you say is like, I have a car and I drive 2000km a week. I drive Skoda Citigo. What do you suggest?

It really depends how steep peaks you have. How much is dynamic content and overall if you website is well coded or uses some **** like Wordpress w/ plugins. Factors like geo diversity counts.

It is very well possible your shared hosting might be ok. Or you need CDN instead of VPS. OR maybe you already need dedicated server. Who knows.

Back to Citigo analogy. It is different if you drive the 3000km (so 286km every day) as pizza delivery boy in a city or you drive 8000km once a month through Canadian tundra and you are towing your boat.

I looked at AWS a few years ago. They have a ban on gambling content. I do not know if they enforce it or not.
Call me paranoid but I have a few websites on different shared hosting plans. If one ever decides to enforce an anti-gambling policy the other is still up and running.

It is not just what you are doing now but what will you be doing. If you are going to need to scale up soon, then move now and pay to have it setup right.

I have used Cloudways for about 5-6 years for all my sites. They have av very good platform (PaaS) with good performance and I think they are very affordable. You can chose the underlaying infrastructure like Digital Ocean, Vultr, AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Linode and choose server location after your needs. Cloudways support is fast and very good. You don't have root access to the servers but you can do a lot of configuration through their UI.

Litespeed setup on Digital Ocean anyday would be my suggestion. We got "****** wordpress" sites getting 200k daily users and server doesn't reach @15%

Matter of removing bloat of course but it's our preferred setup if u consider accessibility pros of WP and digital ocean scalability

I used Digital Ocean for a project a few years ago. It's a performance solution but I found the lack of root access frustrating. We screwed up and produced lots of GB of error logs, and then you have to wait for customer support to come to rescue because only they have root access. Eventually our resource-hungry project was moved to OVH and we haven't looked back.

I am very much against charging for the bandwidth, which is what Digital Ocean do.

Will I receive a billing alert if I reach my bandwidth limit before the month is over?
No. We cannot calculate the full bandwidth pool before the month is over.

I might try them out again for one of my smaller projects that definitely won't reach the bandwidth limit (especially with Cloudflare saving a lot of it), and see if I can get any performance gains. Especially as OVH haven't updated their lineup since 2016.
