Very interesting article! While sports betting and lottery are socially acceptable, people playing in online casinos may be unwilling to show their friends and family what their hobby is. Gambling is considered as something wrong and highly addictive by many people and I'm not surprised that casino players don't want to risk being perceived as casino addicts.
I think that Social Media and online gambling is contradictory aspect....seems some societies does not accept even a discussions on the gambling and related issues..but the matter of surprise is that people still used these platforms to attract traffic..But again you never know when Facebook bring changes in algorithm ..
Interesting article. GSN has done focus groups with our own players in the past and many of them have shared sentiments that they don't like to broadcast the fact that they spend a lot of time (and money) playing online games -- even though the games are 100% legal. So there's definitely a bit of a stigma at play however I think that stigma is eroding a bit with the popularity of games that are inherently social (e.g. Candy Crush, Words With Friends, etc.).
anyway, some people may use fake personal pages to follow their favourite casinos and brands to get familiar with bonuses and new opportunities first.
