Default I would be so Upset if this was My Birthday Cake hell!

Sometimes, a sweet gesture can go very, very wrong. Sure, these cakes still bring joy but in the ‘laughing at them on the internet’ way, rather than the intended birthday cheer.

Well, they tried. And at least they’ll go down in internet history. Here are a few of our favourite birthday cake fails of all time…

This hedgehog cake, which proves that adding fake teeth to food is a shortcut to terror

Oh, hey new phobia of hedgehog

This haunting reminder that it’s a deeply traumatic world after all

This watermelon cake, which could not look less appetizing if it tried

Maybe just stick some candles in an actual watermelon (Picture: Imgur)

This sweet little lamb that’s seen too much

    ‘Kill me’ (Picture: Imgur)

Whatever THIS was supposed to be, it’s safe to say it went horribly wrong

    ‘

Oozing’ and ‘red’ don’t go together, cake-wise

This cake, which actually succeeds in making rainbows a sad thing

    This helping of sass

    Maybe it tastes good?

In a world of email, Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter, letter-writing can feel like something of a dying art.

Especially if you cast your eyes on this heartfelt note peened by a retiring US post man.

He writes: ‘Hi, Mike, the mail man here.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from the US Postal Service. Twenty years have seemingly flown by.

It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have been your letter carrier for the past four years. Many of you have been with me that long, some have not.

‘I have enjoyed getting to know you and hope that I have provided a service to your liking. I have seen many changes over the years and have enjoyed and endured all of the triumphs and heartaches. I will miss all of you as you have seemed like
    a second family to me.’

And, even if you think you have a tight hold on your emotions, you’re about to lose your sh*t…

Mike goes on: ‘I lost my wife of 42 years in Sept. 2014, but I know she would agree that it is time to close this chapter and start a new one. My last day will be Sept. 30, 2015.

‘I do sincerely wish you and yours, all the best. Michael. L. Rayman.’

The heart-wrenching letter was posted to Reddit by a user obviously grateful for Mike’s dedicated service.

User g3tyasum wrote: ‘For as long as I have lived in my house, always thought the Mailman was very nice. He put this in the mailbox. Reminds me that there are good warm people in all walks of life.’
