Would YOU trust this Person?

Hi all,

Without going into detail, I'm in the process of trying to acquire a prospective new client.

The problem I face is these people have a product they wish to market through affiliates. However, their web site totally sucks (your typical MLM layout) & IMHO they've been suckered into believing (through smoke and mirrors) that this person can help them achieve their goals.

To me this site looks like your typical MLM scam.

Why do people get conned by these sites?

Are people really that stupid?

Or, is it the promise of success that blinds people?

Maybe it's people who are not net savvy that these MLM type sites feed off.

I'd sure appreciate some feed back.

So, are we looking at this from a business perspective or ethical views?

On the business side, it is a job. You are simply providing them with a service they feel they need to make their business succeed. If you feel the business is somewhat unstable, then make sure the deal includes a substantial amount upfront or frequent milestone payments. And maybe some kind of waiver separating your service from their actions.

On the ethical side - your gut instinct is rather important. If you feel they are going to be defrauding customers - then deny the job. You might lose some cash, but you will sleep better at night.

Thanks for the feedback.

Basically how it is...

Have a prospective client (A) who have a great range of health care products. (introduced to me via a friend)

They are unfortunately newbies when it comes to online marketing & the Internet in general.

Somehow or other they found this site ( xxxhttp://www.profitavenue.com/ebw.htm)

After shelling out a couple of $K to this guy, all they have is a crappy web page (looking like your average MLM site) and they're still not making any sales.

Our mutual friends has tried to help by stating their wasting their cash and are probably getting shafted. However their still pretty convinced that this guy is going to come through for them.

I've sent them an email outlining how things are and what to avoid. Also added that their site in my professional opinion wont convert sales.

(btw these people are about 55 and have invested most of their savings into their health products. I just don't like seeing people get shafted by scams).

Anyway my main question was...

Why do people get suckered into these schemes? To me xxxhttp://www.profitavenue.com/ebw.htm is obviously a scam or at least a MLM scheme by which the only person who gets rich is the site owner.

we are in what is likely the most competitive nich online. Your instincts and advice are far more likely to be of value than that of this place.

I think that point alone has many merit and that your should point this out to your friends.

I don't know the product , but the owner is a well known marketer in the info products field.
A lot of years in the business.

Unfortunately all the info/digital market is around this kind of hype etc.

The answer is simple. Because nearly everyone would love to make a lot of money without doing any work, all of us are potential victims of these con games.

Obviously crime pays, or there’d be no crime.

Besides I am not big believer in stupid, smart, dumb, people its’ all so relative. Whether or not the site “totally sucks” is irrelevant and relative to the person viewing it. Not all people see things in the same way but this doesn't mean their "stupid."
