What's happening with my site

Hi Guys,

I am a little bit frustrated at the moment as my site betonlineuk.com is receiving very little traffic. I do put up posts most days but have noticed rankings have been dropping consistently. On some articles they appear for a couple of days but then drop out of the index completely so i resubmit and they appear again and stay in the rankings.

The site quickly went the way of a tipping site which I now realise was an error (poor conversion rate) but where i would rank 1st-2nd page for the tips they do not now. Even for golf where nearly all my tip pages ranked on the 1st page are on pg3 etc...

I do not believe the site is under a penalty as I do not do much linking apart from social media and there is no indication in GWT. The quality of the tips should be ok, especially the golf where i got much of my traffic.

Does anyone have an inkling what is going on, is it something basic?

I also want to ask as I want the site to move away from the tips and focus more on offers and promotions, is it ok to delete all the tip pages and set up new pages and how it would affect overall raking to the site?

If there is something technically wrong with the site I would appreciate any help given. My skill level is not at the standard to spot glaring issues.

It's always very hard to give advise because no one is a magic.
You passed the mobile friendly test.
Your website speed test can be improved ( https://developers.google.com/speed/...com&tab=mobile ), but this can not be a major problem.
New websites are ranking well for some time, a newbie-bonus.
Then the normality sometimes is like a stroke from a lightning.
In my opinion your tips have a simple problem: The content is too short.
Unfortunately, this is the nature of tips.
Your previews are longer but also not long enough in all cases.
You need internal linking with a complete sentence as link text that includes matching keywords and at least one relevant backlink into your most important subpages.

Very much appreciate you taking time to look at the site. I know you are a well respected member of they forum so for you to comment I am grateful.

It has been a gradual decline in rankings over the last few months, it may well have coincided with the decision to cut back on the tips and shorten the articles (to save money). We did used to cover all the Premier League games but now just do a couple. So that is a very valid point.

As for internal linking, I have tried on some posts to link to other relevant pages, but once again this could be better.

Speed has always been one of my main concerns and I think I have got it as quick as I can myself. So will have to look at getting someone to see if they can speed it up further.

Backlinks are more difficult, as we are not one of the big boys so it is hard to get quality links. If you have any ideas on this it would be a big help?

One last thing Leopold, what do you think of moving away from a tipping site altogether is it feasible?

I do think there is an issue with that particular site and I disavowed the links that I was getting from them. But if you go to the site it just shows up as a blank webpage.

I also had another site which seems to have just scraped my pages xxxbetandwins. I have tried to contact them several times but no answer.

Hi. I didn't visit the site but the cached page in google looks a lot like your front page. File a DMCA with google maybe?

Fu*k, that cached version has my most up to date stuff. With the DMCA will that help in removing the whole site or is it specific pages?
I have done a couple of DMCA's but for single pages.

Don't delete old pages, they could still bring in traffic. You could delete links to them from the menu, but unless there is something wrong with them I personally think they should be left.

If you had a penalty, you wouldn't even be on page 3. It's just your site settling in.

Edit: It looks like all your pages are indexed. Just type your url in Google with http:// at the front.

I could only find one. I did have some Chinese site clone mine early last year. Only knew when I saw all my pages being duped then found an icon at the bottom of my website which linked to it. My dev guy managed to block that out.

Hi Scampi, that is what I thought. I have nearly 1200 indexed pages although a lot of old posts. I was just thinking about if the site was clear of tips I might be able to run some ad campaign in Google. They see tips and it is a no straight away

this is the crux of the matter. You gave yourself the answer:

The same with me. I never again invested in my casino website after some time one second in any freeloader nonsense. What will you expect with freeloaders? Huge deposits? This is far away from my experiences. Better only a few new players but quality ones. Highrollers will never search for ($.50) free spins or other nonsense.

You don't need to delete the old content. I saw, that you have a wonderful menu in the head. Simply concentrate all old tip sites under 3 menu points and generate new subpages with a new stategy and a new spotlight menu. This is worth a try. Once again: Even in your segment, one customer with a good wallet is worth more than hundreds of freeloaders. And people who are only searching for tips are also in this case freeloaders. Most of them have their loved placed were they place their bets regardless what you are promoting.

If I have some more time then I will check again your website next week or so if I find anything that can be helpfully to you.

Google has been tweaking and changing everything.. the best thing you can do is check WMT and see if your impressions.. CTR, pos have dropped then analyze keywords that have taken the hit.. it could be panda or quality update,, or you have just changed the genre of your site so google is starting fresh to reevaluate ?

Could be WP, in GWT the impressions and clicks have halved. But I have cut back on the number of tipping post and tried to move more into offers and reviews. So maybe it is taking this into account
