Default Matt Cutts Talks About Guest Blogging

I read a blog post with a video of Matt Cutts talking about Guest Blogging. It is actually a helpful Video from Cutts IMO because guest blogging has been popular but there are people who spam and pay for links which he discusses.

The part I found interesting is where Cutts describes a good, solid guest blog verus a spammy one.

A good guest blog starts with an introduction on why you having this person blog on your site.

The Guest Blog relevent to the blog it is being posted on as well as the blog that the link will be pointing at.

The Guest Blog Should Not Have Tons Of Links With Anchor Text.

He describes what he looks for when The Manual Spam team get a complaint.

Thanks for sharing. This is a hot topic as of late. I know the best way to have your site rank well is to provide great content but I think most will agree that even with outstanding content it is hard to rank well these days without having some links pointing to your sites. I guess the you have to assume great content will eventually get some quality links pointing to your content but it can take a long time for that to happen.

Myself anymore, I am hesitant to even do guest blogging cause you never know when it may seem like a spammy post and you receive a penalty. Or you do a guest post on what seems like a great site but then all of the sudden the site owner needs money and starts selling links destroying the quality of the website. I guess just like everything else in life its a craps shoot, but the above guidelines are a good starting place to try to do the right thing.

google is too hard to try and undertsand they constantly change things to make it near impossible to keep up with anything that will increase or lower your pages rank i think the best practice is too write an honest article or blog post without thinking about keyword density etc

It's all about having the right reasons for guest blogging (or building backlinks) if you are trying to tar your way into a backlink portfolio for just SEO then the chances are the next (or perhaps latest) algorithm update will remove all your work, you are far better served in getting backlinks to improve user journey and experience (a relevant blog post) rather than quick, black hat, gains.

Yes, i 100% agree. But in the other side, we must know some basic SEO principles. For example, i don't use paid links, but i must know, how this work.

    Hi,
I see this video link and I found that the video is interesting and very helpful. Recently, I discovered a tech site link removed, they accept guest posts and paid posts. Is it worth it?

Thomas, posting guest posts on a tech site might be ok if you are posting an article about tech.

But, why would you want to write an article about gambling on a tech site?

Placing links to a gambling site from a tech artcile would NOT be on-topic links so it would be a waste of time and "could" hurt the site.

Page rank is not going to be updated, so finally we should stop think about it
Most affiliates that have been paying attention know and understand that green bar page rank has been dead for years, but many seo wannabes and link sellers didnt want them to find out since it could still be somewhat minipulated.

Blogging is not for building links, it is about creating reputation of your writing skill among the professional, it is about providing reader some good stuff and better information to read so that they can improve their knowledge and use those skill to improve as a professional in their life, it is about drawing the real traffic, blogging should not be used for search engine indexing.
