Blockchain-based betting market to launch this fall
From Reason:
Coming this fall, Augur will allow participants to wager money on any future event of their choosing. Software will set the odds, collect the bets, and disperse the winnings. The price alone should give Nevada sportsbook operators pause; an estimated one percent of every pot will go to keep the system running.
Augur won't be controlled by any singular person or entity, and it will run entirely on Bitcoin. Should online sportsbook operators (and affiliates) be worried about this?

If anyone thinks this will NOT get the US (and other various countries) wanting to disrupt this, they have not been paying attention.
A monetary payment system (that the developers wanted to be a currency) that the government does NOT like and wants to regulate or stamp out, added to a betting system that the government can not control, regulate or tax....and you don't think they will be against it?
