The undercover cop and the dodgy gambling club
An undercover cop has been assigned a new case; he is required to investigate a backstreet members club which is suspected to carry out unlawful gambling. Now this club takes their security very seriously, with each member having to perform a secret password ritual to gain entry. The club has an armed doorman so this cop doesn’t want to make any mistakes. He has access to the latest equipment so waits till the club is closed and plants a microphone on the door. The next day he listens to the following:
First conversation
Doorman: “Twelve”
Geezer Replies: “Six”
He is granted access to the club.
Second conversation
Doorman: “Six”
Geezer Replies: “Three”
He is also granted access to the club.
Confident the cop knows the secret he walks up to the club and the doorman says to him “Ten”. To which he responds “Five”. The doorman draws his pistol and asks the cop to leave. He has failed the password test, and lost all hopes of cracking this case.
What did he miss? What would have been the right answer?

I know this is a Monday coffee break quiz, but for me it’s Sunday night and a little to much whiskey’s quiz. Is this to do with roulette numbers? And if so I guess 7.

Ha ha! I think I prefer the "Sunday night and little too much whiskey quiz". It has a much better ring to it! Let's make this happen, you can do the question next week
. As for the answer, better luck next time, I like your thinking and its certainly good logic, but not the answer I'm looking for...
