    Default Weird Stats

    Hi all,

Just checked my stats at a couple of different affiliate programs and saw a couple of strange things.

At one I've had a guest player account opened at a casino which has never had a download and at another I've had two visits and one download to a poker room which I don't even have links to from my site. Anyone got any ideas as to why this is?

    Hi Joe,

    With regards to your questions:

A guest player account but no download... Does the casino offer a Flash version of their casino? If so, visitors do not have to download any software to play at a Flash casino as it is completely web based.

A player at a poker room of which you do not have links on your site... Is this poker room part of one of the casino networks? If so, several of these casinos 'cross-market' their other casinos / poker rooms. For example... when you visit The Gaming Club Casino and you leave the website you get a popup for one of the other casinos / poker rooms (for example The Gaming Club Poker or River Belle Casino). If the visitor then clicks on that banner you will see a click through in your stats.

    Hi Wouter,

Yes, there is a flash casino and the poker room is part of a casino network. I realised that they cross-marketed but not that I would get the credit. Is this common for most affiliate/casino groups?

    cross marketing is very nice!!

If after a visitor who has used your link exits a casino and a popup comes up of one of the other casinos in the group, that's an exit pop, it's great as long as they have your affiliate code in the popup!!

its good to keep an eye on the popups like that and be sure you are being given the credit. If you arent or you arent sure, contact the affiliate program and ask them what the deal is.

I just removed two casinos yesterday because one had an exit pop to the other, and the affiliate tag wasn't mine.

If the casino doen't give you credit for cross marketing, drop them like a hot potato. Don't send your valuable traffic to someone that will steal from you.

    Hi Joe,

More and more casino networks indeed give you credit for players that open an account at one of the other casinos in their network. And if they don't... well... first of all a lot of webmasters will take their links down (as you can see in one of the postings above), but also there is a big chance one or more of the webmasters of the GPWA will start negotiating with the casino / network in question. On several occasions this has resulted in either the pop-up / pop-under not appearing when the visitor came through an affiliate link... or the network changing their policy and attaching the affiliate ID to the link so that the affiliate still gets credit...

That is one of the strong points / powers of the GPWA... that as a group we get things changed in the industry.
