HELP!! iv dropped out of google overnight

hi, my site has been up now for about 4 weeks and i have been tweaking and changing the meta description and title tag every few days, and i got myself from 100 and something down to 5 (google uk) and 12 (google.com) for the search term i want, in 3 weeks, my site gets crawled every few days so yesterday i changed my meta descripition and when i check this morning im 169 in google uk and not even registering in google.com...anyone know how this happens? my site hasnt been crawled for the new meta description as its still showing the old one, i havent made any drastic changes to the site, just add my most wanted keyword (phrase) 'best slots bonus' in a few times in the the opening paragraph to my page and iv added a few links at the bottom of the index page to some web directories that i have submittted my site to? if anyone could take a litle look at my site or maybe shine some lght on this, is would be of a massive help to me, im very new to casino affiliating, (do other see there sites jump around on google) i had the number 1 result in google uk for a few hours about a week ago...also i use rank checker tool to check my postion

I wouldn't worry - sounds like a bit of Google dancing going on. New sites tend to pop in high, then drop down as Google waits to see what other signals of quality the site gets, and if you get a few more fresh and relevant links in the meantime, it will help reinforce that your site deserves its ranking. That and all the little tweaks they do to the algo all the time means sites can bounce about like no bodies business, but if you've taken care of the basics, you should return without too much hassle.

Just be careful and diligent to where and with whom you obtain links. Don't go like a wild bull in a China shop adding umpteen dozen links, thinking more is better. Take it slow, really slow. I know it can be hard to obtain links when your site is so new. However if you maintain decent, unique content which is aimed at punters not Google bots, your sure to find webmasters who will trade a link with you.

I don't think you'd do it...but don't get stooged into purchasing a link booster package or something ridiculous. They're not only a BIG waste of cash, which may or may not see you get any links but if you do, they will likely get you flagged by Google because your site is so new.

Personally I'd give it a month and keep adding new pages with targeted niche content. Leave the pages alone you've already done - that's no more meta/title tweaking. Be cool and remember Rome wasn't built in a day.

Iv just been thinkin now that I signed up to that revisitors site to get 100 clicks on my site free, would google penalise me for this

Probably not, but the traffic is pretty much useless. If you convert a single one I'll eat my hat.

You'll probably see it bounce back. The thing to do is search for the domain name in Google and see if it still ranks (probably top) on it's own name. If it does, I would give it a few days and see what happens. I often see sites bounce around especially when they are new as DaveL says.

thanks for all the advice, im still in google but when i do a rank check im not even in the top 200 for google uk, il give it time but iv seen my postion get better and better over the past 3 weeks and now its all gone, im just bummed out now

Google likes fresh.

If I read correctly you changed your site 4 weeks ago, had your best placings after a week and then have dropped back. Am I correct?

We notice that when we update an existing page on our site - it will have an immediate spike in the rankings - and then slowly drift back ... possbily as competing sites alos change their pages.

What you are describing is something that I've seen plenty of times myself and assumed is a normal situation.

I would agree with the Gooner, it is common knowledge that Google want to focus on fresh content as much as the old and credible content, which is often why you see a mixture of the 2 in the top 10.

As an example if I were to release a page on one of our network sites the chances of seeing it in the top 10 for a few queries in the first week is quite high, however after that it will then drop out for more recent mentions/credible results.

If I then start to link build to that page it will slowly work its way back up the pages.

No tests on my theory, I have just kind of accepted it for what it is and moved on! Perhaps in relation to your case...

all good advice, thank you, im going to just keep the content update, i have tried to do that by having a blog which i write and article for every day or two on the site and having the feed on the homepage, is this a good idea? i didnt want to have too much writing and articles on my site becasue i want people to just see a good new offer and click through it, i tend to just scan through a site looking for fresh offers and ignoring the content, but i know now that i have to have lots of fresh content, hmm theres only so much you can write about a casino, cheers

My take on this and except everything that was said already is, do not play with your meta tags all the time. In most cases they should not be changed, of course outside of testing, so once you know what is best for you, do not change the meta tags; I suppose it is not a good signal to google which may see that as manipulation (just a guess).

You were ranked 5 (uk) and 12 (com) for 'best slots bonus'? After the site had been up for four weeks? I'm going out on a limb here but I'm guessing that you won't ever get within the top 500 again.

That's normal. Fluctuations on rankings because of on page changes are normal. Just be consistent on your off page.
