Default GPWA Seal of Approval Question

I know that having a GPWA Seal of Approval is a great thing to have and shows that your site is a genuine site but do these sites get reviewed again?

A site could get approved today and then tomorrow go out spamming forums and sending email blasts out. If this is not done do you think that sites should be reviewed every 3 months or so to show site quality and also sites that got a GPWA Seal of Approval over a year or so ago have these sites been checked recently.

1 more question also. I see that sites that have been approved have a number next to them, what does this number mean? Visitors, etc?

There have been situations reported where sites have been awarded a seal and then the webmaster subsequently violated the GPWA code of conduct. In those situations the seal has been revoked.

In terms of a formal and regular re-review process, we don't have one in place because we don't have the manpower to do so. I estimate it would take about a labor year of effort for each such re-review. So we have to rely more heavily on member reports than we would ideally like.

We do envision building some tools to help detect certain sorts of situations where a seal should be reviewed, and some of those will likely be built over the next year. Things like noting ip address changes that might also indicate a change of ownership.

In terms of the numbers associated with the sites, I assume you are referencing the "GPWA Web Traffic Rank" number. This is calculated by looking at traffic level reported by some third-party data sources that report traffic levels for sites and building a composite traffic level based on those third-party sources. We then assign relative rank numbers to GPWA member sites (both sites with seals and sites without seals). The numbers should not be viewed as being completely accurate, but do give some idea of sites with more versus less traffic.

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I do think that some sites have the approval and then for one reason or another did something which should have got their approval taken off them

If you wish to PM me I would be happy to help with the above quote if you want to discus more.
