Lightbulb Advice for my website :)

    Hello everyone,

I started a football site with some friends of mine, it's not my first site, I've a portal and this one I think it will be my golden baby with some time and effort. It's updated daily, around 3~5 posts per day from news to soccer analysis. It's targeted for portuguese speakers and even though it talks about international football the main aim is portuguese league. I think I've done well optimizing it's SEO.

But I would like your advices, comments or any suggestions you may have related to it, like i said it's still a baby website, 3 days old to be precise. Tell me what you think in terms of SEO, design, ads placement, structure, posts, etc..

    http://liga.mokaj.com/

    Thank you in advance

I'm no good at Portuguese translation, so not much use for commenting on what is actually written on the page..

    But ....

First impressions.....the images are distorted which I think most visitors will immediately notice. If the rest of your content doesn't offer something special/valuable then you may/will lose visitors quickly from first impressions.

The site itself looks like many others. If you don't have a lot of (Portuguese) competition, that might not be a problem.

I'd take the Google ads off for now, or at least a couple of them. They're using space which you could use to show visitors why your site is great for following Portuguese football.

Yes image distortion is a current problem I'm trying to solve as soon as possible. The portuguese competition I have is profissional journals (with paper impression) who also own websites. Because apart from that it's a big niche without any serious competition coming from fans like me and my friends.

Thank you for your thoughts chaumi

What is the URL of this site?
It must be hard to predict Portugese league. Heard about many bribes and unfair "matters" in the past.
    But it's still beautifull country

it's liga. mokaj. com feel free to review it (remove spaces, I can't post URLs yet)
Unfortenely you are right Gamer, we did have some bribes in the past, it wasn't a very fair league, but that matter is all in court now it's called "Caso do Apito Amarelo", but things are getting better now, I woulld even say we are one of the fairest leagues right now, specially this season where small-clubs have started really well.
    Yap a beautiful country indeed

If most of your competition is big/official business...you could try to focus/position your site as 'by real football fans, for real football fans'. Or something like that. Might help to set you apart from others.

That's actual a very good idea chaumi, I think I'm going to start a campaign with a slogan related to that and do some more paid-publicity as I've done already through cpc networks. Our main difference is we give our opinion on the subject and even thought we remain unbiased (i think this is how you say it in english), we don't just report the news and what happens like the other websites.

    Do you also own www.mokaj.com?

If not, my first suggestion would be to move the site to your own domain.

I have fixed the link in your first post to make it a little easier for people to review your site.

looks great, yet some of the pictures are stretched and not in correct pixel size for the space.

Looks ok but seems that some of the bottom text is cut off on the slider on the home page.
