To get any valuable replies you'll need to be more specific about the site....what is it about exactly....the URL?
Once we know that you may get some advice on what avenues you could pursue to get traffic (and remember just getting traffic will almost certainly not do you any good anyway...it needs to be worthwhile traffic)
I understand my site won't launch until next thursday. I will have more information soon.
OK so for now just focus on building and preparing. Make sure the site is in a good state to go live, and all the basics of SEO are in place at least. Try and go live with a number of well written pages.
It can take a long time to get search engine traffic, don't expect quick results unless you try black hat tactics (and that will get you in trouble in the end, even if it works at first)
Hi
in generall in terms of SEO make sure that you know what you want to rank for. Try to optimize the content in this way. Always important is to have unique page titles and meta descriptions. Try to give your visitors a clearn any easy to navigate structure and try not to include too much advertisment in form of banners above the fold for the start. Register social media profiles to have additional traffic sources. I can give you more tips when the page is online.
Cheers
As others have said unique page titles and meta descriptions, also as much quality content as possible
Without knowing content of your site it's difficult to make some hands-on advice, but here are some general advice.
1. Do clean and ethical SEO. Anything else is digging your own grave. Google is getting really really smart (!)
2. Make sure your load speed on the site is as fast as possible.
3. Have great readability
4. Get social likes (real ones, do NOT buy fake ones) from facebook and google+ (the most important ones).
5. Target the keywords that arent so competitive
6. Have great UI on your site
Hope this helped a little bit![]()

Don't forget about social media presence - set up a facebook page and twitter profile for your website and try to attract people to follow you. The more people share your posts, the faster your site will be visible in SERP. And as others said, don't use black hat SEO! Getting search engine traffic is a long process and hard work, but it will pay off in the future!
I don't agree. I read a few books and lots of articles about SEO and they all say the same: social media is important! Google now looks down on aggressive link building and sites with hundreds of low quality backlinks, but using social media helps you build real, natural links that the search engines love. When people share articles from your website, they generate 100% natural links, which will drive more traffic to your website.
Quoting Forbes: “Today, social signals are having a direct impact on how sites are ranking in the SERPs.”
Here are a few nice articles on the importance of social media:

There have been some very recent comments/statement from Matt Cutts that social links in themselves do not get any credit from Google.
But of course they have value (depending on the quality) and would be part of a well rounded link profile - even if they are not given backlink credit in the eyes of Google they are still increasing overall visibility.
Unless you're basing your assertions / beliefs on data, you're leaving yourself open to wasting your time and getting no tangible results.
Let's remember that SEO is a science - not a something you should use your "gut feelings for". There's plenty of data out there which can be manipulated statistically to prove effect. There are a lot of smart people out there - yet nobody has proven a direct relationship.
FWIW I have read plenty of articles which say the world was created by "God" / "Allah" / [ insert Deity here] etc.. I personally think that it was created by Spiderman, but without proof, I will never know.
=)
I don't believe 79.9% of what comes out of Matt Cutts mouth. Personally I think social signals can have an impact on actual search rankings, based on my own experiences.

Even if you're right and social media doesn't influence the site ranking in SERPs, it will help drive traffic to your website and increase brand awareness. I don't say we should focus only on social media presence and forget about SEO - that would be nonsense. But I believe having a facebook or twitter profile will not do any harm. The aim of SEO is to make the site more visible and get more traffic, and social media can help you achieve this goal.
Anyway, I think the buzz around the role of social media in SEM can be compared to the role of backlinks after Google updates - there will always be arguments on who's right![]()
