    Default A Good foundation

Unfortunately there is no "golden BB" or magic wand in this business. I think the most important thing that one can do is to put some time and effort into the original basic design and layout. If you do that you won't have to do like I did and change it three times to make it right. That incudes SEO, proper choice of keywords and meta tags from the beginning.

The worst thing you can do is put a site up quickly (as everyone wants to do) so you can "attract a few customers" in the beginning. That won't work. What happens is you realize the mistakes you have made and have to change all of the page names, meta and keywords. That creates broken links and you loose the momentum you sought in the beginning.

You can have the best site with the best content and the finest casinos but if nobody can find you on the web....it just doesn't matter. SEO SEO SEO and SEO are the first four most important things you can do to make your site a long term success.

After that, sitting up all night posting links with good content to the various blogs, social media and publisher sites helps to create links that will bring people to your site and improve your search engine rating. Remember in the beginning that people will find you based on your links and not the search engine and they will use the same keywords to find your articles that they use to find gambling sites. (SEO again) A good article (with plenty of good keywords) on how to play blackjack will bring more customers than being ranked 556,887th on page 172 of the search engine. Google didn't even recognize my site for three weeks, then it was only limited. Build links, publish content, good luck!

Wow! Great tips. Thanks for sharing, jctroy440.
I do understand that SEO is important. I need to put more effort in creating backlinks and selecting the right keywords.

Other than SEO or writing press release, what else can we do to let people aware about our website? Any idea?

Default Get as excited as a new father

I don't know how old you are but I remember when my first child was born. (She is now 37) I think everyone in town knew about it (from me)before her feet were dry.

If you attack this business with that state of mind you will make it. You need to tell everyone you know that you have a gambling web site and keep spreading the word. Some may not and will not share your enthusiasm but don't let that bother you.

I live in Cancun, Mexico and every weekend I take a trip to Islas Mujeres and visit the marina where all of the "Yacht set" hang out. I hand out small business cards with my web address and a promo code on it. I don't know how much good this does but it makes me feel good anyway. I am also offering a free vacation to Cancun on my web site. I know one of the hotel owners and we made a trade. Time will tell on that venture.

I don't think there is any ONE thing that you can do to be a success in this business. I think it is the accumulation of all the little things that finally make it catch on. There are an estimated 21 million people online at any given moment gambling 24/7. A portal only needs about 100 steady customers to be a success and make a nice chunk of change. It sounds simple but believe me it's not.

Patience, planning and consistent execution will prevail. Most portals give up in three months or so not knowing it takes that long for the search engines to notice your URL. Hang in there and do your homework.

Get excited and stay excited and keep posting links.

    Cool Not really

My first bet on a horse was in 1968: Forward Pass won the Kentucky Derby with Valenzuela showing the whip. I was trackside, 17 and running traps for a bookie in Florence Kentucky name Hugh M. I was making more money than my Dad was making after he worked for the phone company 25 years. He couldn't figure out how I could afford a new Vette at my age.

I started my portal internet affiliation business 38 days ago. ( I can smell money)I have put 15 to 17 hours a day in it learning everything I possibly can from people that have been in the business for 10 years or more. Ask questions and do what others do to be successful. There is big money in this business but not overnight. The internet is a relatively new and ever changing void. Be patient and persistent and if you really belive in what you are doing....never give up and you will succede.

My advice... find your niche and be the best at it. You have to offer something unique.
