Red face Let's share some quick updates to boost your search ranking

    HI folks,

Most aspects of an SEO campaign take significant time to research and implement, but there are always a few relatively quick tactics to boost results. I have known 5 tactics so far:
+ Mine the ‘People Also Ask’ box for content
+ Utilize new FAQ structured data
+ Improve pages that can make the most impact
    + Optimize internal links
HOW DO YOU OPTIMIZE YOUR INTERNAL LINK?
    + Remove 301 redirect chains
Let's share your experience anf thoughton this topic.
    Many thanks

I believe the TLDR is this respect is that redirects have ~ 15% decay.

    I'd like to add
    - optimize page's structure (lists for quick answers)
    - create autor's pages and their social accounts (EAT)
    - add external links: wiki, .edu .gov

A 301 redirect chain is when there is more than one redirect between a URL and its destination URL.
When creating a redirect, have a single 301 redirect from one URL point directly to the final location. Redirect chains happen when websites migrate to SSL without checking that all previous URLs end in a single step to the HTTPS version
    Here’s an example:
    HTTP://www.domain.com → HTTPS://www.domain.com → HTTPS://domain.com
(where the final destination is non-www)
When the original URL redirects to the secure URL, but you want the non-www as canonical, it has to redirect again. This can lead to loss of link equity, create crawl problems for search engine bots, and affect page speed and server resources. The easiest way to remedy a 301 redirect chain is through your website’s host or download a redirect plugin.

301s should be used to prevent valuable pages from having a 404 status which further damages your website user experience. However, in most cases, it is good to avoid 301s and just do a 1-1 link

When searching on Google you will see these boxes often appear in the search results. It gives a good idea about what others are searching for as well as the current keyword.

Aggree, sounds more like a BHW forum seller's thread "buy my social signal services which won't do anything".
The domain type doesn't seem to change much, it is just that their authority is generally higher.

Main factor is always content. Without it, keep collecting backlinks as much you want but you won't improve what could be improved with proper content.

    + Optimize internal links
I see this all the time, yet never do I see any real methodology to do so, or explanation of what it even means.

This consideration is just about PR distribution IMO

ask yourself if you stripped away header and footer links on your site, what would the internal linking look like? would you be passing enough equity
and relevant anchors to the top pages you want to rank?

Ideally, you want to stick one rich anchored internal link to any page X from any page Y where it makes sense to logically do so (kind of like wikipedia does)

I believe I read some nugget somewhere which said "not all links are equal.. sidebar or nav links are not equivalent to editorial links". I am sure one can do some searching and find some info in this regard from one of the googlers

fwiw you can import suitable data and visualize your internal linking in gephi, with and without nav links.

    Thanks.

I often wonder, do the sidebar / menu / header / footer links somehow interrupt the juice of the links inside articles which also link to the same pages?

So for example, lets say one has MONEY PAGE A which is the first menu item on every page on a given website. One often links to MONEY PAGE A in say, half of all news articles and blog posts on the website.

Given that the link shows up twice on these pages, and according to the HTML the navigation menu link comes first, does Google even care what the anchor text is on the link within the article? I have read that Google ignores all but the first reference to a link, so it makes me wonder if an opportunity to get Google to consider different anchor texts for a given link is being lost because of this layout choice?

    Hope that made sense.

    Answer removed. Edited.

Sorry, wrote something on links that is not applicable anymore. Don't want to give obsolete information.
