Not necessarily a banner but at least a textlink. Wonderpunter is right, all pages (and links) get clicked eventually. If I have learned one thing it is that visitors click on everything!
I don't like banners. I best case they looking bad, i worst case they descrease page speed.
But a CTA is a must (css button mostly)
That is very useful, thanks guys for your responses !!
I always say its not good posting a banner or image if the quality of that image or banner is poor or if it doesn't add value or get its point across correctly then its not a good idea. its nice to have images and or banners that are relevant and give you a clue as to what your getting by clicking them at first glance .. Its not a bad idea for the look and feel of your pages to have them just make sure they are quality
I do, what harm is it going to do doing so?
Is good idea i think, but on the other side, if this site can become much time loading / bad speed performance, because of all this baners on all posts?
I have banners, usually at the beginning, middle and end of a post.
I actually noticed that people click the link in text more than banners. Probably just a fluke.

To boost traffic. This is a great way.
I put banners on most of my pages and banners, although text links and buttons are clicked way more often. Still, I think banners complement the look and feel of an article.
I use CTA more than banners, though I don't have enough traffic to be able to split test the two methods yet.
I tried with banners a bit before but didn't see a good conversion on it so focused on putting a nice CTA button on all posts instead. One in the top and one in the bottom.
