Portal Naming and engine rankability

[gary]

I am looking to put up a bingo portal.... Has anyone had any luck getting a good search engine rank with a '.us' or 'virtual name'? I don't know what the correct term is - so I am refering to it as a 'virtual name'....

example1: www.virtualname.portal.com
example2: www.portal.us

Do only classic '.com's with no dashes, and no 'virtual name's work?

Thank You In Advance

From what I've been reading it seems that most people say go with .com with no hypens or anything like that I dont know buts thats what I read, I'll also let you know I got a bingo domain name that I'm selling onlinebingoview.com if you interested.

the reason I am asking about the virtualname.portal.com is because I already have a bingoname.com.... I thought if I put like online.bingoname.com / internet.bingoname.com / play.bingoname.com / etc....

This way I can start multiple portals without having to actually buy a bunch of names.... But if they won't rank good, than I won't waste my time....

i ask the question can you name 10 websites without the end name .com?

[gary]

no, I can't name 10 non '.com' website names, but I am talking about a portal name.... Nobody knows portal names.... A portal is just a site people are on for a few seconds before they click onto a real '.com' site....

But if your point is a '.us' site will not get a good search ranking - I see what you mean....
