Interesting, so this seems to overlap with the site reputation abuse (parasite) policy without actually being the algorithmic part of that policy. Perhaps this and the parasite work will get rolled into one over time otherwise they run the risk of contradicting each other.

Interesting video on this from Glenn Gabe entitled 'a nightmare on affiliate street' - some tangible drops he's evidenced so far:

Be interesting to see how they handle sites like Independent.co.uk which has moved its casino content into the 'games' folder and mixed it in with lots of playstation etc. reviews.
Based on how similar things played out in the last few years, I'd expect things for big reputable websites to slowly creep back to where they were before this.
Maybe this will be a wakeup call to those that build gaming sites and then accepting news feeds or guest posts from any niche that are completely off topic.
Does this also point to using even more caution gaining links on off topic sites as well? One would think that if the off topic pages and content might be devalued, surely the off topic links might also be.

At some point these sites should be hit with a manual penalty for obviously doing this. Links should be devalued, and i'm sure they already are but we will never know for sure.

Someone should report them to Google.
I get it that this is technically not a good practice. But in reality, should they be penalized in any way? I mean, several websites are posting content created by a single person. But generally, if 10 different websites post content created by Alex Hormozi (for example) - should they be penalized?
