Need Help - WP Settings

I messed up and changed my WordPress Address under the General Settings Tab to my main website url (xx.livecasinousa.com) when it should be xx.livecasinousa.com/blog

Now when I try to log into my blog (WP) it is not working because it is redirecting to my website homepage. I have Wordpress installed in the /blog/ directory.

I know I probably need to change this setting manually using Filezilla but I do not know what file I should be looking for. Can anyone help me out and let me know how I can change this setting back to what it should be without being able to log into Wordpress?

Can you do a restore from a previous version on your hosting?

define( 'WP_HOME', 'http://site.com' );
define( 'WP_SITEURL', 'http://site.com' );

Replace http://site.com in both instances with your actual URL (including https) and add these lines to your wp-config.php file in your website's root directory. These lines will overwrite the settings you set in dashboard and you should be able to access it.

You can leave them there or remove after fixing the URLs in dashboard.

New problem now. While the above did work, now I have noticed I cant login to my WordPress site. When I try to login through /wp-admin/ it just returns a blank page. It doesn't come up where I can enter my username and password.

Anyone know a fix?

If you are using cPanel, try http://YOURIP/~youcPanelusername/wordpress/wp-admin/

Before doing ANYTHING, get a complete database dump, using phpmyadmin or cpanel tools.

Get rid of the config redirect and change the root in the database.

Possibly by removing the redirect in the config, you can log back in to the admin, change the root in settings (back to the way it was previously), and save it.

At this point I would suggest ANOTHER backup of the database.

Once you have a backup of each "state" you could then try a plugin such as 'wp migrate db" to move wordpress home references to the /blog folder.

I have just last week taken a wp install that was in the /wp/ folder and changed the root in the database to the root web folder, then moved the entire contents of the wp folder into the root, then added the plugin I mentioned to look for additional instances that might need changed.

Be careful not to change all instances, since references to wp-content etc are needed

It also could be that your current admin login still has the /blog/wp-admin/ associated with it since you originally changed that in the wp settings.

Make sure you don't have any unnecessary/wrong/missing characters in wp-config.php
For example, ‘ instead of ', “ instead of " or a missing semicolon at the the of a line.

If it returns a blank page for /wp-admin/, it's most likely something like that.

just use phpmyadmin - look in your wp_options table.. the error will be apparent.. maybe pastebin it and link here .. we can have a look

I cant get the screenshot to post, but for siteurl it is livecasinousa.com/ and for home it is livecasinousa.com/blog/

Should they both be livecasinousa.com/blog/ since that is where I have WP installed?

In case it hasn't yet been fixed - yes, they should both be the same and remove the trailing slash, just livecasinousa.com/blog

That is the beauty of the GPWA, when a member needs some help, folks step up.

Side note Travis, if you haven't gotten a backup of the database now that got things rolling the the way you want, contact me if needed, happen to help you do that and see that you can get a handle it doing it yourself regularly after any big changes.

If you want a plugin for doing it, we had a thread here that last 4 to 6 weeks or so where it was discussed and a few were recommended. (topic might have been either backup or migration, but some of the plugins help with both)
