Default PKR Going downb Quota Route

It seems that more aff programs are taking this route and now PKR have followed. I got an email this morning advising that they changed terms and i should go and read it :

Lo and Behold the appropriate paragraph

Affiliate account inactivity; In order to remain on any commission structure, affiliates accounts must remain active. Any affiliate with an inactive account will have access to the account restricted and the commissions relating to any tracked players on that account set to 0% Revenue Share

The above does not define what it takes to remain in the active status.

As an example, if logging in at least once every 6 months constitutes remaining active.....then I would not consider the term non affiliate friendly.

If remaining active is defined as sending depositing players in a certain time frame then it's an unfriendly term.

I blacklisted PKR due to this.

Here's the exact changes in the T&C Rick in relation to dormant/inactive/semi-inactive accounts:

A “dormant account” shall mean any account which for a period of 12 months or more has not either (a) logged into the account; or (b) had funds withdrawn from it.

An “inactive account” shall mean any account which for a period of 6 months or more has not acquired 1 or more Real Player.

A “semi-inactive account” shall mean any account which for a period of 3 months or more has not acquired 1 or more Real Player.
Forfeiture and retention of account monies; For affiliates to which commissions are paid into a PKR player account, such player accounts are subject to the same terms and conditions as they would be if they were not an affiliate. This includes but is not limited to the removal of any unused balance from a dormant account and the closure of such account.

Affiliate account inactivity; In order to remain on any commission structure, affiliates accounts must remain active. Any affiliate with an inactive account will have access to the account restricted and the commissions relating to any tracked players on that account set to 0% Revenue Share.

Should the affiliate wish to once again become active, then a new affiliate account must be created to track this activity. The affiliate will no longer be eligible for any commissions generated by the players tracked under the initial account; nor any subsequent account that has been restricted because of inactivity.

Any affiliate with a semi-inactive account will NOT have access to the account restricted but, for players attributed currently to a revenue share commission, will be moved to a 10% revenue share commission. This will only occur should a 10% revenue share be a lower percentage than they are on currently.

There terms as they are rewritten are really crap. In my opinion, they've done this to do a sanctioned cash grab with the confidence that the cash grab will outweigh the implications from the few webmasters who blacklist them or give them bad press.

    Have to agree Shay.

Thanks for the term clarification Dan, I hadn't had the chance to see how they clarified the inactive status.

Yeah thanks for that clarification Dealer Dan - I didn't think to post the other parts of it. Essentially they are climbing on the bandwagon and cutting costs because the can. It is already getting airtime as well at PAL. Another one to blacklist then.

Don't forget the FAQs where they conveniently forgot to change the wording... Bolding inserted by me.

Q5. What is the PKR affiliate commission structure?PKR affiliate commission is based on a revenue share model whereby you will earn a lifetime percentage share of the net revenue of each new player you sign-up:
20% of the revenue of all your players up to $10,000
25% of the revenue of your players from $10,001 - $50,000
30% of the revenue of your players over $50,000

An update. PKR have sent out an email re their terms and conditions. Seems they are feeling the heat.

We have received a number of questions regarding the changes to the terms and conditions that we would like to clarify to all. Please do continue to send us questions as we would like to be as transparent as possible on the new changes.

The new terms and conditions will have little to no effect on affiliates that continue to actively promote us and we will consider each account before any changes are implemented. No changes will come into effect until 1st September; this is to allow affiliates to meet the minimum requirements necessary in order to remain unaffected. Before any changes are implemented on any account, each affiliate will be advised via email that they will soon be affected and, at this time, we invite them to advise us of anything that they would like considered before the changes take effect.

The changes are being implemented in order to reward affiliates who continue to partner with us; we feel these changes will allow us to better do so. If you are unsure if you will be affected, please do not hesitate to email the PKR affiliate team (affiliates@pkr.com).

If you have any questions regarding the changes, please contact us at affiliates@pkr.com

i'll be getting kicked off for sure as my traffic for poker is extremelly low, what I don't understand is I have only ever sent them a small handful of players and they haven't played for ages, so I'm not costing them anything, but what is the harm in just letting me show their banners and get them extra branding with the hope they may get the odd player every now and again.

doesn't really bother me, I just find it a bonkers decision on a business level

This update really isn't an update to the term change. It would be one thing if the change wasn't retroactive, but to say the changes are being made in order to reward the affiliates that continue to work with them is disingenuous at best.

I think thebookiesoffers sums it up well. We also send them nothing much as our traffic is sports bettors but they have a positive listing with us and they get the branding on a site that does get a lot of traffic. Now I am wondering if I just blacklist them as I am sure as hell not removing a review page. I would sooner turn it negative and keep the page.
PKR seem determined to ruin their own affiliate program with these changes and also put off any affiliate coming into the industry who gets stigmatised by their new, retrospective changes after three months of poor performance. How can any new affiliate join them with that sort of pistol to their head?
I, too, can not see what cost a totally dormant affiliate is to them anyway? That dormant affiliate may produce decent referrals in the future, even if they are not now. Why tell him to drop dead? Please can someone explain to me why this costs them apart from a few columns in a database?
Also, as Anthony has pointed out, the line about this rewarding the live affiliates is insulting crap. How stupid do they think affiliates are?
PKR are obviously determined to destroy their own affiliate program and I would urge affiliates who stop promoting them as a result of this to turn their current reviews to negative / "blacklisted" reviews. Don't just ditch that PKR review page - it may end up on Page 1 of google at the next update and you can tell everyone how crap they are and send them to a decent poker room with a decent affiliate program instead. Companies that make these rip-off retrospective changes need to see the backlash in serious bad publicity that stays online indefinitely.

These BS lies they dish out after they change the terms telling current affiliates not to worry, and that they can ignore the term as long as they stay active ....etc etc etc... BS!

They made the terms change and put it in writing so they CAN and WILL use the erm against affiliates....

If they had no intention of such, the term would NOT exist.

Quotas are bad, have always been bad, I said it years ago and we are now seeing the fruits of quotas being implimented on a constant basis....
