"I can only imagine how it felt to live in the time when your homeland literally turned into a Cold War espionage arena. Since I am a big fan of real stories of real people, could you please share your story how life was back to the wall time and how it felt when the wall was finally demolished?"

The Cold War was a never ending propaganda battle between free West Germany and the GDR. We have had here one guy in the West who was attacking and smearing the GDR on his one man TV show every week over decades, and the GDR had his own guy who did the same from on GDR TV. It was like today with North- and South Korea, two propaganda puppets fighting over TV to influence the people's minds, complete insane and exaggerated.

The GDR tried everything to jam the West TV signal and vice versa.The guy here in the West was controlled and paid by the CIA, and the guy in the East was really a 100% socialist believer and believed, what he said.

Neither the people in the West nor in the East had knowledge about how often Germany and so the whole world was at the brink of nuclear war. The U.S. forces in the West and also the Russians in the GDR hided everything, and it happened more than once that Russians nuclear bomber with activated warheads were close to take-off in the GDR, e.g. during NATO operation "Able Archer" in 1983.

So the people in the West of Germany felt always free, comfortable and secure and our brothers and sisters in the GDR were under surveillance, with electronics or with hundreds of thousands of government agents. Quasi all people were under surveillance. Your neighbor, your colleague, even your own wife or husband could be an agent from the government to spy and report about you. After the Wall was demolished, they found millions of documents about that, and all victims until today have the right to look into them. So after decades many people learned, that their own wife or husband was a government agent and not what they thought.

The GDR was the biggest surveillance machine ever in human history. Not even the Nazis had such power regarding surveillance.

It is no myth and a never ending running gag until today, that the people in the GDR had no Bananas. Yes, this is true. You have to know, that people from the West have sent on a regular basis huge packages to their family members and friends in the East because they really had nothing in their East stores. The GDR was bankrupt from the beginning, and so the people suffered under having nothing or less. In this huge packages were coffee, Bananas, tights, cosmetics and such things. We tried to cover some West Germany money into the packages, because the GDR currency was really worth nothing. Many of this packages were intercepted by customs officers in the GDR for their own private use. They simply stole the gifts and no one said anything about that in the GDR on government levels.

What was really strong in the GDR, the solidarity of the people and the absolute lack of prudery. The GDR had the most nudest beaches of the world, and thousands of families also with their children used that as an variety, because when you live in a big prison and you cannot travel anywhere with the exception of some USSR vassal states, then, so the socialist regime thought, they must give the people at least some entertainment, and if it is a nude beach.

The evil side should also never be forgotten. More than 100,000 people tried during 1961 and 1988 to escape from the GDR and to defeat also the Wall. More than 140 were killed by guards, by barbwire, by mines or by spring guns in Berlin at the Wall, and thousands and thousands were put behind bars all around the borders. For us in the West the Wall was the border, because no one here believed, that the German reunification will ever happen. For Thatcher a German reunification was a nightmare, also Gorbatchev was no supporter of the German reunification. No, he had no other chance than to say "yes", after the USSR was bankrupt due to the very expensive nuclear arms race, after there was this mass historically uniquely revolution in the GDR by the people on the streets.

The true reason, why the Wall has fallen, is not Gorbatchev, like most people in Germany believes until today. The true reason, why the Wall has fallen, was Ronald Reagan, because he really believed in the German reunification and it was his deep wish, and his call at Gorbatchev was the trigger for everything. But because he was a Republican, the "Movie Cowboy", he was never that accepted here by the media and so by the people, because at that time there was no internet to find alternative news sources and the truth.

And I have never forgotten, what Reagan did for us, and so he is also part of one of my videos. There you can also hear the heartbreaking statement of a men who was present, when the Wall was built and when the Wall was demolished, and believe me, millions of people felt that way:

Trump struggles with group handshake at Asean meeting

During Monday’s “family photo,” at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Manila, an unseen announcer instructed the assembled leaders to perform the traditional “ASEAN handshake,” asking the leaders to cross their right arm over their left and shake hands with both their neighbors.

Initially, Mr Trump used both his hands to clasp the extended fingers of Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.


Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, on the other hand, did not cross his arms but the chain of leaders remained intact.



However, it appears that it's not the first time Dmitri Medvedev refuses to cross his hands in ASEAN handshake. He already acted the same in 2010's ASEAN summit.



I don't know whether it's an act of protest or some sort of undercover political statement, but that's something even Putin never did.

I can understand, that Medvedev and President Trump have trouble with looking like insane clowns with this "gesture". The first picture in your post was made by journalists to make him look bad, and last picture in your post speaks volumes about that "gesture". Look at the 2nd guy from the left side.

This reminds me of the fabricated fake news story, initiated by CNN some days ago, that President Trump allegedly tried to kill Koi Carps during his visit in Japan after he dumped a box of fish food into koi carp pond, too much for the fishes.

Fake News Network CNN edited the footage with zooming in the President to demonstrate, that he is quasi a fish killer.

They intentionally didn't show, that Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe threw FIRST the whole food into the water and that President Trump did the same AFTER that. They simply cut Abe out of the video by zooming!!!

Crossing arms ... only a staged gesture for the cameras, like all political gestures of this kind.
No difference if they would cross their legs, do a mass headstand or nibbling the ear lobes of each other.

But there is one exception in history:

Francois Mitterrand †, President of France and Helmut Kohl †, best Chancellor in German history, hold hands in a famous gesture of reconciliation.



This gesture was real and not arranged like all other gestures from politicians.

Yes, this historically unique gesture on 22. September 1984 of the two "Old Europe" leaders at the battle fields of Verdun, where 1916 within 10 months more than 850,000 soldiers were killed without gaining any territory, was a true gesture. At least 450,000 soldiers from France and at least 400,000 German soldiers lost their lives for nothing at Verdun.

It is a historic fact, that this gesture was not arranged or staged. It happened spontaneously in response to the situation. Both felt the same in that moment. And so this unforgotten moment was the start of a deep friendship between France and Germany, also between the people, and until today no one and nothing can divide us again.

And now compare this historic moment with the appearance of these two idiots here at the same place 32 years later:

However, we here in Germany we love the wonderful people of France, their culture, the elegance, the charming language, the amazing cooking talents and the fine wine. We love all these unforgotten stars like Brigitte Bardot, Mireille Mathieu, Yves Montand but also Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Reno.

It all started with the gesture from Francois Mitterrand and Helmut Kohl, a gesture, which came deep from their hearts.
They indeed spoke for the people.

As you can see, there was a time, when we here in "Old Europe" knew how to bring people together in love and peace and harmony, because on the contrary to others, we and our two leaders from that time learned from history.

That's a great story, Leopold. In fact, in my post I was not intending to assault Trump or anything else. However, the story you've elaborated out of it is indeed fascinating and to my shame, I have not heard about it before.

There’s a huge radioactive cloud moving over Eastern Europe and no one is 100% what caused it. The cloud isn’t harmful, so far as anyone can tell, but it is extremely disconcerting, but a new report from the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (ISRN) has shed some light on the incident.
We now know, for instance, that the cloud didn’t come from a reactor incident. Ruthenium-106, one of the cloud’s main components is a radioactive material that not only isn’t naturally occurring, but is typically linked to nuclear treatment or the radiology department of a major hospital or research center.

The cloud has been floating over Europe for weeks, with peak radiation levels more than 50,000 times less than Chernobyl — around 150 teraBequerels.
“The concentration levels of Ruthenium-106 in the air that have been recorded in Europe and especially in France are of no consequence for human health and for the environment,” the report said. Even so, because it’s… y’know, a radioactive cloud, some countries have rules and regulations mandating evacuations for certain affected areas or shelter those near the initial radiation release.
We know it wasn’t from a reactor, mostly because if it was, there’d some other nastiness mixed in with the Ruthenium. That leaves a reprocessing plant, which can release certain radioactive materials. Cancer treatment centers also use Ruthenium, which is stable-ish for a few months.

As of right now, though, scientists have been tracking cloud, stating that it likely originated near southwestern Russia and Kazakhstan. Russia denies that an incident took place on their territory, however, IRSN director Jean-Marc Peres told Reuters.
That causes problems because even though the cloud itself isn’t all that deadly, the site near its release would likely need some restrictions placed on exports from the area.
“The possibility of exceeding maximum permitted levels near the accident site led IRSN to study the scenario of importing foodstuffs from this area,” the report read. However, further studied showed that such measures probably wouldn’t needed. “On the one hand, that the probability of a scenario that would see the importation into France of foodstuffs (especially mushrooms) contaminated by Ruthenium-106 near the source of the release is extremely low and, on the other hand, the potential health risk associated with this scenario is also very low.”

Even so, concern is building that this is similar, at least to Chernobyl in one terrible instance — despite the probable location of the incident, there’s no official acknowledgement at all of the leak.
“We have come up with a plausible zone of where it could have come from; we can’t do any more,” health director at the ISRN Jean-Christophe Gariel told the Guardian. “Russia is a vast country and we’re not aware of all the installations on its territory. The ball is now in the other camp.”
Kazahk authorities have also been silent.

“The matter is closed as far as France is concerned. It’s not a problem for France, what is not satisfactory is that ruthenium-106 has been detected across Europe and that poses a question,” Gariel told The Guardian.

Exactly!
In my case it happened by accident, because before watching "The Defenders" it's clear, that one must watch all prior series of the four heroes. Only "Dare Devil" Season 2 and "The Defenders" I did not watched yet and so ... I felt in love with Bernthal's play of the Punisher during "Dare Devil" Season 2.
How he talks, walks, alone how he fires the guns ...

So, everyone who wants to watch "The Punisher" ... it's a must to watch before that at least "Dare Devil" Season 2 to understand the figure perfectly and also the lady, who supports him.

This is the official timeline of all Netflix heroes series:

There is a simple reason: "The Punisher" does not join "The Defenders", so it's really the best thrilling entertainment to watch "Daredevil Season 2" directly before "The Punisher" to enjoy and understand the Punisher's story in full action mode and without a break.

And you don't need necessarily to watch the series of "Jessica Jones", "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" and also not "The Defenders" to dive into Punisher's world. Both "Daredevil" Seasons are enough. Then you have a fine transition to Punisher's own series.

And you'll not regret it!
