Default Some agencies are insane or people have no idea what a good backlink means.

Again and again I am surprised at the prices that some agencies and backlink sellers call for pages that are just bad.

Sometimes prices of $400-500 are called, although the site is terrible and would be worth a maximum of $100. Ok, it seems that there are enough people who pay such prices and apparently don't care whether that is justified.

I really can't understand that there seem to be people who are paying these prices. Sure, you can pay $ 500-1,000 for a backlink if it's worth it.

it depends how you look at things. For one 500 is a big amount, for others its micromoney. For example, a casino who has a 300k monthly marketing budget, its easily to spend such funds, and it doesnt really matter on a website-based level..

Secondly i know a lot of big companies who hire companies to take care of their backlinks and things like that. The middleman who is hired doesnt really care about the quality as he simply wants his profit and needs to make sure he can send a list with the things he did that month to the company that hired him.

What i often see is that most of these companies have zero knowledge, so they have no idea what links are good and what links are bad, they also have no idea on prices, and most of the times they simply dont care as well... as long as the result is positive everybody is happy.

From a site owners point of view: price will also depend if you do it as a hobby or that it is your full time job. Everybody needs to pay the bills so selling things for 100 bucks is often not worth it... Personally i just ask myself “what amount do you want by the end of the month” and i base my prices on this model. If people are not interested, thats fine, but thats the minimum i need to survive. Its up to the customers to decide if they find my website interesting enough...

Yes you are probably right. I have made the experience that many agencies seem to have little or no idea themselves and sell terrible links as very good, where everyone who understand at least a bit how backlinks are working, run far away.

Many people certainly don't care much about money and prices and then eventually wonder why nothing is moving forward. If the result is ok in the end then at least it would be something even if the prices are high.

Of course everybody need to pay bills. Just some people are really outrageous. I am so often shocked when I see that someone agencies offer a link for $600 where someone else offered it for $350. I maybe understands if someone add 50-100$ more. But 250$ or even more.....

Well, people are hungry, and selling links is one of the easiest way to get money. Additionally, in the competitive markets SEO specialist are fighting for each piece of pie, for every possibility. Additionally, in a long run, it can be totally worth it, if the site where you want to get a link from is LIVE and active, with time it will evolve and bring you much more link juice.

    IMHO)

Yes if you buy a link from a normal site. But if you buy a link from a site that has been penalized many times by Google and actually only sells links to all possible sites, it will not really be successful in the long term.

Some people forget that backlinks can also have a negative effect.

As long as there are people who are willing to pay those prices, they will charge those prices. They would be stupid to ask $100 if there are enough people that pay $500 without hesitation.
But I agree with you, some prices are just crazy for **** links.

Yes you are right. If people are willing to pay such prices why they should ask for less. I just don't understand the people who are ready to pay such prices for bad quality link. Many people think that every agencies calls themselves SEO Specialists is one

In some cases it's worth paying a higher price for a lifetime link over renting a link for 1 yr.

In theory if you buy a ($500) link at a reasonable good domain that will be maintained over 5yrs+ you'll benefit from this.

If you buy a cheaper 1 yr lease link for ($50-100) after 12 months it'll be removed or you have to renew for more.
Not really worth that commitment and most people buying these are gambling.

It's of higher quality to buy a lifetime guest post + link over a keyword + link IMO.
Everyone keeps saying that google will filter these pure keyword links or block link farms out entirely if they haven't already.

Also, sites that sell a 100 links on homepage are more likely to be filtered out by google.
Over a quality blog site with a 100 pages and a 1x do follow link in each page.

Also, shop around and negotiate. Some affiliate site buyers might get a discount over a commercial site.
