I'm confused, are sports tipsters allowed on Facebook?

I'm new to the affiliate world and had seen various sports tipsters with Facebook pages offering tips and then referral links to various betting sites. I started one up myself and began running a few facebook ads to get the 'likes' going. It wasn't until I tried to boost one of my posts and it was rejected for containing a link to a gambling site that I saw the terms and conditions stating that you aren't allowed to advertised gambling links without prior permission. They haven't closed my page and have continued to take the money each day to continue advertising my facebook page, even though it is clearly a tipster page with affiliate links on it. I was also rejected for an affiliate account by Bet365 as they said it was against Facebook terms to do it.

So my question, is it something they genuinely enforce? Or do they turn a blind eye to it and just have it in their terms to cover their backs? Have all of these other big tipster pages that have been around for years been given permission? If I apply for permission, do I risk them shutting my page down? Am I a dead man walking anyway as they will shut my page down eventually? Any advice would be gratefully received! Cheers.

I'm hearing that Fb are increasingly getting harder on tipster sites.

Some have recently been temporarily taken down or generally squeezed. The pattern coming out of this seems to be that they don't want the actual gambling affiliate link to the operator on their pages so you may have to start linking from Fb to elsewhere and then pushing them to the operator for the referral.

I know of an operator, (who I saw driving past me the other day), who has recently had is 300,000 likes facebook page taken down. Now I don't know him personally and whether it's down permanently.

It's worrying, but promoting on facebook is a no-no. As such, growth is very slow (for me atleast) .

Facebook is dead. It still can't be avoided in your social media strategy but only because you'll look strange if you don't do Facebook.

affiliateCharlie, you can't post a direct link, you're not that company. Common sense. You can post a link to the page on your site which contains banners and links to the operator.

Facebook is 100% not dead, you just have to change tactics. Facebook are clamping down though.

Facebook blocked my ad account for "repeatedly promoting gambling content" too, which I find completely ridiculous since I hadn't posted any affiliate links.

Nevertheless, FB ads weren't useful to me at all - the UK and Ireland targeted users, for example, showed zero interest in the predictions, games and strategies I posted - no clicks, no views...

If you want to make money on Facebook, the easiest way is to simply look at what other pages are doing. I've had minimal success on social media, as player value seems very low compared to my normal traffic but if you can build up large, active communities on pages then it seems there is a good model in there somewhere.

I do not understand facebook. I avoid it even personally. But I believe money is there, because there are people.

But it was never good idea to have your property on their pages and if Facebook is harder now it is only good for the people without proper webpages on their domain, because they are forced to make the website and the business might become a bit more stable. Of course most projects will fail during transition.

I think one of the reasons of the new approach is that Facebook will come to gambling industry more and more and he does not want competition.

I personally do not know why Facebook already does not have affiliate deals with major brands.

If you wanna better adds on google you need fb links.. If you need to prove you are person and not one of milion scam sites fb is best tool..
But of course like every other tolls even this one is abused by idiots who just wanna cheat.. Like any other media..

Gillies is right, I've been using facebook for a long time now and I've seen the changes and updates they've made. It is not dead though we just have to adapt to those changes so we can better understand how to stay alive on facebook.

Has anybody ever had any success on reactivating an account that has been inactivated? I admittedly a little naively didn't think I was doing anything wrong (particularly as they took £500 off of me for Facebook Marketing those very same posts) I only posted a couple of times a day at the very most and they were predominantly tips, advice and general banter but they inactivated without warning and wont respond to any attempts to appeal.

Well their politics towards the gambling community have changed a lot. From somewhat gambling friendly, they became quite arrogant. Closed so many tipster pages and though they spam you with "BOOST YOUR POSTS NOW" you cannot do it if your site has anything to do with gambling.

When I asked them about this paradox, some quite arrogant guy replied, that they do not deal with 'middle men' that they only deal directly with the gambling brands and that the minimum money you need to spend per month is 50k $. So yeah I wouldn't hope they'd renew any closed accounts, nor I think it's worth opening a new one.

Meh if they don't wanna take my money, so be it. I wish i could just turn the spam, that tries to convert me to spend money and I WANNA spend money, but in the same time i can't.

Thanks for that information. Not the ideal news that I was hoping for (figured that they may u turn in that if I had breached their protocol it was relatively minor) but I think it categorically settles the fact that im not going to be getting my page back or using their services commercially any time soon. Saves me the hassle or hope of trying.
