Default First attempt at a site, please give me your feedback

    Hi Everyone,

I decided a few months back to have a go and try and create a site to promote sports betting as a bit of a hobby. Being a bit of newbie any advice on how to promote the site or even help with the layout etc would be most appreciated. this is my first site so i'm learning as i go.

I'm starting to see some traffic through social media but google still doesn't know i exist lol. I've been advised the way forward is to create solid backlinks, if anyone could expand on this would be a great help.

Thanks in advance for any info given

    my site is footballbettingworld.co.uk

The site looks good and I like that you have the social sharing buttons on the left hand side. The is a video game banner lower games on the left, I would replace that with the theme of the website.

As far as google is concerned, have you set up your google webmaster tools and google analitics? If so have you submited a site map and submit to crawl? Those are the first steps I would take plus Bing as well. Check out your content keywords and it google understands the significance of your website.

I see that you are using yoast in your code, make sure that you are pinging ask and yahoo as well evey time you update your website, and fill in all of your open graph data. That should be a good start.

Wow! My beloved color scheme with white content background. Awesome!

I would put some work in logo to create a brand. The page looks good but a little bit "standard" Try to make it unique. What I donīt like is that you have the navigation twice. Good luck with your site.

Your site looks good, but the links at the very bottom look extremely ugly.

I assume they were part of the Wordpress theme you used, but maybe Google won't like your site with them ...

Yeah those links at the bottom look spammy, plus you need to no follow or 301 the external links.. at the moment your ratio is way out.. Like someone else said.. it looks generic... Boring.. I felt bad for your logo. so here's one i made earlier

it's a Good start though.. just need to tighten up a few things perhaps change the fonts you are using, r.e the image just right click and save as if you want to use it.. it's in transparent png format.. I would remove that main image unless its going to do something "like click into a promo page etc" and get all you important stuff as close to the fold or above as possible

Yeah, definitely a good start for sure.

Do a Google search for 'go links' or 'affiliate link mask'. Always a good idea to not show the affiliate link in your CTA's. Instead when you hover over them, you'll see something like this:

    Before: http://sportsbettingandtheaffiliatep...thingelse?btag
    After: http://<font color="#333333">footbal.../bookie</font>

    Much nicer!

Do feel free to PM me if you need anything else.

    ATB!

There is no need to use an url shortening service, or a plugin to do what you can do with a few k php or html file that is about 1000 times faster than something external.

Using a simple go link (that will show as an internal link on your site) to a page in a folder (not indexed and disallowed by robot.txt) your links on your pages will show something simple like /visit/casin1.php or /visit/casino2.html )

If you absolutely have to use a plugin for this, there are many that will help that will show your links as an internal link without having to go to an external service.

    Houston we've got a problem!

The image 'header-fot.jpg' is (with Firefox) on the right side of your page! Something is not right. (besides the image that shouldn't be there)
