Hi guys,

Been reading the forums for a few months now and thought it was about time I got involved!

I recently started Tipster Tables with the idea to make it easier for people to find and compare tipsters from around the web.

When I started out a few months ago, I didn't really know much about web design and was displaying very few tipsters as I didn't know how to automate the process of sourcing the statistics.

Since then I've taught myself enough programming to develop some effective web crawlers which go out and grab the stats daily and also improved the design a lot.

It's still thin on content and needs a lot of fleshing out, but it's getting there. Also need to start focusing more on how to monetise it effectively. Let me know what you think!

The main question is how to keep the idea and functionality of your site without sending all traffic away to your "competitors", since everyone will obviously click on tipsters name - meaning would go to one of your competitors. The fact that it opens in a new window won't help much in my opinion.

Not sure what is the purpose of the column on the left, unless you will be paid for traffic you send to those sites (which might actually work somehow).

2. the text of the graphs on the left a but cut.

nice site, bit slow loading and response is quite slow (but my internet isn't great)
how do you get the results of tipsters? is it all automated?

btw, i read that Super Cache had some hacks so switched to WP 3 cache. Worth checking on that.

There's no way to do this without sending traffic to other sites, but I don't actually mind that. I'm focusing on building a useful resource for users first and foremost and tracking as many tipsters as I can is the best way to do that. Maybe in the future I could come to some agreement with a few sites to display the actual tips on Tipster Tables. But for now the best I can do is link people to tipsters profiles.

Doing this also gained me some nice links from a few big affiliate sites early on which is one benefit. And I think people will come back to tipster tables very often once they're done on a tipsters profile, since I just display way more profitable tipsters than any other single site.

Yeh I'm aware the series titles are cut off from the charts. If you hover over it though, the full text appears. I'll probably look into using something other than google charts in the future thats a little more visually appealing.

Hmm each page should speed up after the first load, although it shouldn't be particularly slow? I actually only got round to installing a caching plugin last week. If you think this is slow, you should have seen it before.. haha

I developed some web crawlers using Python and Scrapy that collect the stats from each site featured (with a few exceptions). I run them on my laptop once a day and upload the resulting files to the site.

Already am! I'm slacking with my advertising/ banner placement atm. Still have only done 1 bookmaker review (which kind of sucks and I might have to re write anyway).

I'm not actually sure which symbol you mean. In the article sidebar widget? There should only be the post titles and featured image?

Ahh I see what you mean. I just assumed the [...] was to signal that the text is an excerpt. I'm not sure its ever been a link. It doesn't have any tags so I'm guessing its not broken code and is intentional (on the theme designers part)?
