I had travel sites, actually I still have them, not looking there anymore, probably there is some money. I have (even hanregged) one top domain, but never developed it.

It made me surprisingly some money, even with content stolen by my content writer and very poor traffic. Still that person drove me mad so much (because her task was to write original articles) that I rage quit not just with her but with whole travel niche.

Sometimes I think about it. If I had met less stupid person, I would have done something completely else (and I would have lived different life).

I used to have some shopping sites however the return was minimal as compared to online gambling. The online pharmacy was another niche which was huge back in the mid 2000s where I heard affiliates making some serious money. Not sure if this is still the case.

I used to in something similar, it was profitable back in those days as a owner, affiliates made ok money but it's probably more saturated than online gambling with less ROI

Yrs ago I owned a (German) network of approx 400 adult domains. Revenue came mostly from 1-click mobile subscriptions. Pretty nice revenue. Every couple of month I have the idea to start something cool with Forex (again), Adult Dating (again), Porn (again) ...

But if you compare the naked numbers e.g. earnings by every single unique visit - nothing can beat online gambling.
You will never earn such a money with no traffic. But over the yrs i have a quite nice collection of parked non-gambling domains

Especially not for the generation without PC knowledge and stuff. They don't want to go on any shady wank4free but they paid some money for good quality without hassle and Trojans.

I tried some affiliate for physical products (like ecommerce before Amazon) long time ago. But it didn't really work well.

I know some pretty successful people in adult but I know nothing about this niche really.

Imho there's a lot of opportunity in real estate, I don't want to generalize but it seems like a very ineffecient and outdated field of business in many countries. So it may be easier to generate some good results in real estate or mortgage leads than in let's say porn subscription and ecommerce.

At least you have some fun while doing it. I was writing a blog about Brazil for years, actually made pennies through adsense, but money was not the reason for doing it. It stopped being fun after I met and invited home some of the readers and realized that they are just crooks and losers who wanted to abuse my genuine approach.
