Default This domain name has been seized by the U.S. Goverment.

This domain name has been seized by the U.S. Goverment - is this is possible?

Today we have first legal online casinos that accept USA-players. But these "legal" usa casinos have strong competitors - offshore casinos that accept usa players. For us - affiliates, at present days is more profitable to send usa-traffic to offshore casinos. They pay more (Average RevShare 30%-45%, they accept all usa states e.t.c.).

And i have a question. How are you think? Is it possible that in the future USA goverment
seized affiliate domain names, that don't accept deposits, but only have information and links to offshore casinos ? Like here http://bodog.com

From one side, i think that 1st amendment for USA Constitution must protect affiliate sites.
But from another side, big money always win. I afraid, that new "legal" casinos can to lobby such decisions.

What are you think about this? What is your point of view? Is this possible or not?

    p.s. sorry for my english.
p.s.s. sorry for thread title. I hope you're not afraid too much.

Yes it is possible because it has already been happening. The DOJ have done this, which is why most offshore firms facing the US have gone away from .com extensions and are using .ag, .lv, .eu - anything rather than extensions controlled from within the usa. Take a look at this famous domain name http://bodog.com/

If anyone thinks their .com domain name is safe then they are somewhat deluded. That said, they ought to concentrate on operators rather than the affiliates, but logic often does not apply where us law enforcement is concerned.

This is so true... everyday you realize new things about how the US government just do whatever they want... sad really.

So many U.S. friendly online casinos are now using non U.S. domain extensions. Then they just carry on with business as usual. I dont see how confiscating their .com domains has stopped them.

Yes, i agree. But for casinos this is not so critical as for affiliates. If coverment seized casino domain, all that casino must do - is say to they affiliates: please change your aff.links, and send traffic no to new domain (.eu, .me e.t.c.).

But if you have a strong affiliate site, with a lot of traffic, seized domain - affiliate may lost all.

anything is possible, since we can't read their minds. they like doing things in a weird, unexpected manner.

I believe the reasons so far, why they've been kind of letting things go 'status quo'....is realizing it brings in tax revenue to the u.s.....affiliates still paying their taxes on people losing money.

But now that NJ has legalized , regulated their online casino market....who knows if this will bring in more reasoning for enforcement.

will they start going after sites targetting NJ customers with offshore online gambling ? hmmmm...that's the milllion dollar question.

Yes, i agree, but i think we can play a proactive.

my action against this (risk diversification).

1.) Buy domains not only at .com or .net
    If my project domain.com - i think i need
also buy domains at .eu .me .im and other domain names,
    that outside usa jurisdiction.

2.) Create sites not only for usa market. People like to gamble in all over the world.

3.) Create separate sites for legal usa market, and for offshore gambling.

I believe, that the best way in gambling affiliate business - this is work at as many diffirent markets as possible.
