More melodic metal than just noise

I thought a couple of things after listening to that first video.
1. I couldn't understand a single word he said.
2. The instrumental part of the song was alright, the vocals sounded like he was being possessed by something scary.
3. Why cant they sing with a normal voice, would that be too pop for the song?
