    Default Question about Netrefer numbers

    Hello,
Is it possible for any company which uses Netrefer to manipulate the numbers in terms of NetRev of a particular player?

I know this is probably a big coincidence, but something happened to me twice in a row, for two consecutive months: I was having a very decent month, collecting positive revenue almost every day but suddenly, in the last day of the month, a particular player wins big (7k / 10k), and my commission drops to something near zero.

I know s*** happens in this business and I'm used to have some huge negative days, but this pattern is just too strange: To build up a nice revenue during the month just to lose it all in the last day of the month is a little strange. It's nothing new, but never happened twice in two consecutive months with the same program (where I have a large players database).

    Any opinions?

    Hi There,

I am the Head of Professional Services at NetRefer and I thought I'd try and give you some feedback on this.

Firstly and foremost if you are concerned about your data I'd recommend you speak directly to your Affiliate Manager. They should be able to answer any questions that you have.

To give you an understanding of how data is inserted into the systems, each day our clients (with the help of their software providers) compile their data into two batch files, customer registrations and customer activity, this is sent to NetRefer through a number of different process such as SFTP server or via a web-service and we then insert the data into the database. Once the data is in the system it refreshes and calculates your rewards based on the reward plan that has been configured by the Affiliate Manager. There are variations in the frequency of data and the data fields that each client sends to us but this is the basic premise.

Because of the number of touch-points there are occasionally issues that may require a change to the process or a reimport, such as data being sent late for example, however essentially once the data is in it stays there and once payments are generated the month is considered closed.

I hope that helps, I'm happy to answer more questions if you have any.

    Thanks
    Louisa Morrison

Hello Louisa, thanks a lot for your reply.

So technically the file which is uploaded to NetRefer depends on the system used by the partner, right? There's no "real time" integration between NetRefer and the software used by the betting companies. If my conclusion is correct, there's always room for manual manipulation of the numbers. A bookmaker can manually insert "ghost" players to adjust the revenue as they want. Do you have any kind of verification program, for example asking your partners to validate some random players IDs? To be honest, I don't believe that big companies would risk their reputation and their licenses with schemes like that, but I can't say the same about smaller companies.

    Thank you again
    Best Regards

Netrefer are only the affiliate software so of course the operators can transfer whatever numbers they like to netrefer

    Hi Again,

The process is completely automated so there is very little manual intervention and in many cases the data comes directly from the gaming provider to us and bypasses the client completely. It really depends on how this is set up when we initially on board a new client, some of them use independent data warehouses.

Additionally, it's also worth nothing that it's NetRefer's ad server that captures the initial click, this is in real time and feeds directly into the system so there is a part of the tracking process that the client isn't involved in at all.

I think you are right when you say that the risk to reputation is not worth the hassle of making any changes to data.

    Hope that adds more clarity.

    Louisa
