Default How do you approach webmasters for linkexchange?

How do you approach webmasters for linkexchange?

    Hey guys,

How do you approach webmasters for linkexchange?

Would you just write to them and directly ask if you found a website with similar Page Authority and other metrics?
What do you need to be aware of when doing link exchange?
Any good tools out there for link exchange?

    Cheers
    Troyyy

I don't do link exchanges myself, but if I did I would just email and ask.

The very last place I would want a link from is a site willing to do link-exchanges

You don't because anyone who is making money from their site would never do so, it is so 2007.I don't even give my own sites links anymore , if they were there since 2010 or prior we left them but these days I would never do it.

I haven't exchanged links in years. When I used to exchange links, I remember checking the website's pr rank and search engine visibility before sending out an email, waiting for a reply, adding the link, emailing them back, and then regularly checking to make sure that my links are still up and contacting them if they've removed my link. I'd also regularly check if the sites that I had exchanged links with didn't expire and go offline or get banned by the search engines. What a pain in the butt that was. But anyway, going back to your question, if you want to exchange links, then after setting up a links page, you could just link to it in your forum signature and wait for interested parties to contact you.

Would not even try... Unless it's done a very smart way (triangle for instance).
But simple link exchange brings very limited value to me, and can even have bad impact on mid/long term as it's way too obvious for google.

i do not bother to interlink even my own sites, unless it has some sense for user

nowadays it is all about behavioral stats... google can well make a difference between usefull and useless link

i ma gladly giving links out to websites, where the visitor will be satisfied, because if the visitor is satisfied I honestly believe google can spy on that with his metrics and then will value my website because I gave the visitor valuable content, or more accurately he spends time on the page and is dedicated to it and eventually returns etc...

Any emails I get about link exchanges I immediately delete, when I used to do link exchanges I would use the private member link exchange forum here

I usually send them a mail, but for the last couple of year, I have totally abandoned the idea of link exchange.

When I started with my site and desperately needed for any sort of traffic,
    my steps where:
    1. google for sites in similar niche that had interesting content
    2. send a mail to beg for link exchange
Describe what your site is all about, and never ask them to put your link first. It's inpolite.
You'll probably be ignored by a bunch of sites, but don't get discouraged.

My advice is not to overdo link exchange.
I dislike sites with too many glossy banners and links.

Try to avoid 3-way link exchange now. Try to build article links, social media links, use various blog network etc etc.
