Well any changes in the Algo's are sure to change specific parameters. Since we do not know all the thousands of area's they use to determine rank, then it's going o be hard to tell exact how it will affect everyone.
One thing you can do is this:
Use one of the many tools that are out there that are placing Google side by side next to Caffeined.
You will see some different results, so what we CAN do is review the difference in ranking and make some educated theories as to what specific parameters may be influencing the current results vs the new results.
Now there is some many variables this will not be easy or even something you will know for sure. But you can check the obvious things:
Example:
In old and new google, search poker > check the results > document the differences > perform a review of the top 10 sites and see if you can find something that may be a determining factor.
Check of course: Links, domain age, content, interlinking, traffic, etc. These things we can get very close on. And really close is all we can hope for right now. WE are fortunate that we even know about this upcoming change, and we have some time to prepare for it.

Nice post Randy.
I would enjoy hearing your thoughts and theories on this (or anyone elses) as I think these thoughts would make for a valuable discussion.

Is there any news already when they will go live this?
I believe they are still allowing the public to help test out bugs and get feedback before proactively advertising the new search engine.
Check out our post from August 13th on our Affiliate Marketing Blogroll.
This blog covered Google Caffeine and referenced some great resources that will help you understand Google Caffeine's modifications and implications.
Caffeine is in a test phase yet.
I've noticed some bad behaviours in the new results.
From the default search ( http://www2.sandbox.google.com/ )
- sometimes I look for php code and I find youtube videos (
)
- sometimes I look for something complex (like key1+key2+key3+key4) and google suggestions (did you mean?) are completely unrelated
- number of results for a specific key vary from hour to hour
From the Italian search ( sandbox with .it parameters )
- for the top gambling keywords results are a bit different
- more spammy websites with 99.999% links consisting of blog spam or blackhat tricks
- one very bad website using known techniques to get positions
I already sent my feedback, I hope it won't go live soon...

After reading Google Caffeine Update - is it Good News for You? I did check some keywords using Google and Google Caffeine and found some remarkable differences, In one case one keyword not under top 100 in Google came at the position 24 in Google Caffeine. In another case, it was the other way round however only with a difference of two positions.
I've found the same thing...some of my search results changed in my favor, some against.
Caffeine is going live.
If you open http://www2.sandbox.google.com/ you get this message
We appreciate all the feedback from people who searched on our Caffeine sandbox.
Based on the success we've seen, we believe Caffeine is ready for a larger audience. Soon we will activate Caffeine more widely, beginning with one data center. This sandbox is no longer necessary and has been retired, but we appreciate the testing and positive input that webmasters and publishers have given.

I will be checking the results of Google Caffeine regularly for a large number of keywords using the auto-pilot function of Rank Tracker.
Here is a video of Matt Cutts explaining their new release of Caffeine.
http://mashable.com/2009/08/14/google-caffeine-video/
Supposedly they are starting to launch the new upgrade and have already turned of the beta version. This means that you will no longer be able to test the new algorythm until it is fully released.
True, Rank Checker has already deactivated Caffeine.
It seems there's one datacenter sometimes going live with caffeine.
Anyway new results will be fully available "after the holidays": http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/google-caffeine-update/
