Bookmaker contempt?

Hi guys,

i am am pretty new to all this and haven't posted much in here as you can see, but I'm just wondering about when starting out, how is it that you apply to (for argument sake) 15 affiliate programmes and then some just don't even get back to you? Not named my any specific bookmakers here, but had a few well known ones that haven't even bothered to say "no thanks". I mean at worst it's free advertising for these guys so surely you would think that they could at least get back to you.

Is this normal behaviour anyone? Or is it just a good indication that I shouldn't really bother with them in the first place!

Do you have a website? Is there content on there? It may take up to a week for programmes to get back to you.

At present I have an active demo website, detailing how/ what it will look like eventually. As well as a pretty well thought out plan on how/what I'm going to do to attract traffic etc, and build upon the foundations in place. I understand they could be busy, but I just thought that they might be little more forthcoming.

Im not being over sensitive by the way! Haha. Just more puzzled on whether this was normal practice?

They do that.

Earn yourself to the position and then you'll be making the rules.

It's not deliberate practice ... but it is normal. The affiliate management area in online gambling is pretty weak generally, with thousands of affiliates at programs and just a couple of AMs to look after them.

If you've been waiting less than a week then they may get still back to you ... otherwise I'd make contact again.

However, you could be proactive and take this response level as a general indication of what future support is likely to be - and only work with the programs have gave you the response that you wanted ... just a thought?

Cheers for the advice gents. To be honest the gooner, that is exactly the way I am looking at it at the minute. I should never judge a book by its cover but it's not an encouraging start from some of them. To be fair ive had some decent correspondence from a few major players so it's not all doom and gloom.

No excusing them ignoring you really, although you might find some are preoccupied with preparations for the London Affiliate Conference this weekend/next week. Actually the LAC would be a great place for you to get in front of some of these programs who are ignoring you, they tend to be far more forthcoming face-to-face.

I would love to be able to get to the conference as no doubt I would leave there with more knowledge up my sleeve, but I live in the far north of England and it's pretty far to travel at short notice. Also I don't know if I'd feel like the proverbial fish out of water?

From experience of the first few we attended it doesn't feel like that at all. You'll probably find that the guys who haven't been answering your emails will be trying to drag you into their areas for a chat - if nothing else it would give you chance to explain your website concept to to people who will either be interested (sign you up) or give you some honest feedback otherwise.

Stick with it with the applications. Some of them are a bit rubbish at first or need a little nudge to remind them to activate the account but that's just how it is at the start. Some of my best programs are the ones who needed a little nudge right at the beginning to get my account sorted.
