how much traffic do I need to my gambling sites?
Hi,
I just started 2 gambling sites about 2 months ago now. I'm getting about 50 uniques per day from yahoo (total from both sites) on gambling related searches (mostly about land-based casinos). I'm not getting any traffic from google or any other sources yet, but I'm hoping my traffic will build over time. Anyway, my question is, how much (search engine) traffic do I need to get through my sites before I can expect signups on a fairly-regular basis? I realise I'm only at a very early stage in this business, and I don't expect miracles overnight, but it'd be nice to know what sort of traffic levels I should aim for to get the ball rolling. I've only had 2 players join so far, and one of them won $800, then withdrew all his winnings!
Anyway, I'm looking foward to any guidelines/experiences from you more experienced gambling site webmasters out there.
Cheers
BW

It all depends on the traffic itself. If you're getting visitors who are looking for land based casinos, they may not be ready to play online ---meaning they'll be a tough sell. However, if your visitors are looking for "online slots" and your page is online slots themed, you should see a decent conversion ratio.

Yes, quantity of traffic is not what we are all looking for (excepted maybe for quantity of quality traffic!
)
I am sure if I say how much I make with how much daily traffic, a lot of newbies should be VERY surprised.
Just focus on attracting very targeted searchers, while building return traffic with a quality site.

Yes, it truly depends on what you *do* with the traffic you get.
My main site, www.VideoPokerJunkie.com does NOT get the traffic some would think that it does - in fact, I think it's on the low side. But my conversions are much higher than normal and many webmasters here say it takes them as much as 10 times the traffic to get the same business I do.
This is not just about getting traffic - it's also about selling your product after you get the visitor "in the door".

Yes, converting is an another problem. I found myself learning everyday about how to convert internet traffic. One thing I regret is that I am not english native speaker and it's an handicap I will always have - I can't sell the product as well as I want - sometimes I simply can't say what I have in my mind so I say something else.
The marketing cycle is simple, getting quality prospects, converting them, and important, making them return. Once you are acquiring customers it's easier (and cheaper) to sell them another product than acquiring new customers.
I would say that a quality site with 50 unique visitors daily can start to do "well" ($500-$1K/mo) in this biz (and maybe more).
