Why do so many new online casino brands fail?
Hello everyone,
After reading discussions here over the past few days, I've noticed that many operators eventually change platform providers.
As someone coming from a software engineering background, I'm curious about the real reasons behind these decisions.
If you've ever switched platforms (or considered switching), what was the main reason?
Was it:
- Poor technical support?
- Platform stability or downtime?
- Slow feature development?
- Reporting and analytics limitations?
- Payment integrations?
- Licensing or compliance issues?
- Revenue share or commercial terms?
- Something completely different?
I'd really appreciate hearing real experiences from operators, affiliates, and anyone who's been involved in these decisions.
Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Great topic! From the affiliate/operator side, payment integrations and reporting accuracy are usually the top dealbreakers.
If payment gateways keep failing or going offline in key target GEOs, conversions drop instantly. Similarly, if the backend analytics aren't real-time or lack proper API support for modern tracking tools, it creates a huge disconnect between operators and their affiliate partners.
Commercial terms obviously matter, but a slightly cheaper platform rev-share won't save you if the technology itself is holding back acquisition and retention.

Usually operators do not have the knowledge or the funds to make it work. White labels that cost 40% of all revenue is killer right off the bat, and once they realize its not a cash machine it too late.

Most of them don't have a brand to begin with.

I mean it's an industry dominated by some major players and networks and is highly competitive. A lot of these businesses have refined their sites over many years. People probably undersell how much work goes into setting up a site/brand from the start. Often times players don't even realise that different websites are owned by the same casino group also.

bad tech, poor targeting, sloppy execution, and zero retention strategy.
