Internal vs External Links

I was doing some browsing on the Internet and came across a few seo tools. Per a lot of these my website has a huge number of external links but it really doesnt. Somehow it must be counting some internal links as external. The site is www.usalegalcasinos.com and as you can see I have 1 outbound link on my homepage.

Is this a problem? Am I linking internally in the wrong way somehow? Cold it be counting my links to affiliate sites as external eventhough I am using link hopper which is suppose to mask it?

If you use a redirect in your htaccess file does that help to not count as exernal links.

I saw it on opensiteexplorer.org. It says 66% of my links are external?

Opensiteexplorer crawls the website deeply, so that can be a reason for huge number of backlinks. For e.g. if a site is linking to 10 pages of your website, it will be counted as 10 external links. Maybe that's the reason.

Maybe someone else can offer a better insight.

In OSE where it says external links it mean links to your site from external sites, not the other way round.

This thread gives me the impression you might be thinking the opposite?

don't the facebook and twitter links count? there, you have more than just 1 outbound link... but your homepage does look controlled with regard to such links.

I did have it backwards then. But that means 33% of links (instead of 66%) are outbound. That still doesnt seem right.

Your outbound links don't come into it - it's links TO the page.

Let's say you have 50 pages on your site which create 50 internal links to you home page - these would be 50 internal links. Now let's say I link to you from one of my sites - that makes 1 external link.

If you have 100 links to a page and 50% are external, that means that 50 of them are from other sites to your site (eg: gpwa, a directory, blog post etc...).

See what I mean?
