Going to have a little play with PPC. Only some little tries to get a better understanding.
Any thing i should avoid? May waste a little playing, but just testing the waters.
Even better anything you can teach me![]()

My input here might be questionable, given a foray into PPC some 4 or 5 years ago where I may as well have rolled up the tenners and smoked them. Lots of them.
But....
Read as much as you can before getting involved, especially all the Google help pages but there is a lot of other stuff around
Learn how quality score works (I'm assuming QS is still relevant)
Be ultra cautious with keywords/search terms. Watch out for going too broad.
Equally be aware of potentially targetting terms that don't get a return (other than the click)
Ideally have a good idea of your potential return balanced against what it's costing (quite difficult I believe without testing to prove it)
Spend some time looking at what others are doing. No one is going to tell anyone else what's profitable, but there are ways to work it out
Ensure your landing page is perfectly optimised to convert (whatever 'conversion' means in your case)
Ensure landing page is fully consistent with the ad
Be cautious with budget setting
Monitor performance/results diligently
There will be a lot more...it's a deep subject..but these will do for a start I think
PPC is a trial and error. It all depends on what your target is, the source and the settings. Landingpages are definitely a very important thing but as chaumi said you have to sort out the best way by yourself because only you know what your target group wants to see and what not. Then you can optimize. Try to find the sources where you get these visitors and then itīs all about conversion and the price that you pay.
