Anyone on .co domain?

I know google treats .co as gTLD and it's doing quite well for other sites outside our industry. Seems like the new trend in the domain name market. But I'm looking to hear any first-hand experience from someone in the igaming industry?

Anyone? What's your site?

While we're at it... What's your general thought on a .co domain?

I have quite a lot .co's for 2-3 yrs. Yes they work well, some of them #1 in SERP worldwide. The CTR is fairly good, ppl confuse them with .com's. Still .org, .net and sometimes .eu I value higher. .co can be targetted at WT.

The small bad thing about them is that they are roughly 2.5x more expensive and they can be extended only for 4 years at once. Also .eu or .me is safer if you are afraid what USA will do, because even when it is Colombian domain, USA do have some influence over it. Some .co domain was seized for Kim Dot Com which shocked me (same case is .tv and .cc). Also if you create brand then lot of your traffic will end at .com domain, much more than with any other extension.

The domain is treated on the same level as .com I believe and you can usually get some good names with .co with it still being relatively new on the grand scheme of things. If you have a generic term for a domain name and it's already taken by a .com then just buy the .co. If you have a brand name you want to protect then always go with .com

.co is around as generic for maybe 4 years I guess. The top best keywords are gone. Also you have maybe heard about EMD SERP bonus, which is greatest by .com's, then .net's and .org's. .co does not have such bonus as .net or .org imo.

Domain name is available on .co and absolutely perfect for the kind of site I'm creating. Its .com counterpart has been registered and is an inactive site but it's up for sale at $10k.

I am confident that my site will take off and at some point I will be able to shed $10k to buy it's .com counterpart. But I really frown on the idea of spending $10k to buy the domain just to redirect it to .co afterwards. As I'm going to be the dominant domain over it's .com counterpart leaving it alone either would pose a serious threat to my business. I could just trademark it for protection but it's a generic term and not brandable at all.

I'm thinking to go for another domain/tld instead. Pity though as the domain is absolutely perfect and it's still available. It's been registered for 3 years and just recently been dropped. I have a feeling that it might be snagged by someone else anytime soon if I don't hurry.

I have a few site's .co's - the most active one is probably http://www.bettingsites.co/

As Sherlock said the CTR is pretty good, probably because people are used to seeing .co[something] in the search results (eg: .co.uk, .com, .com.au etc..). No ranking issues as far as I can tell.

LOL... OK, you got us... They're way harder to rank than their .com and .org counterparts and the aftermarket is WAY more expensive as well. And when we go buy crap links on fiver, they charge us a tenner for $5 links --- because things are more expensive with the dot-co. Party over, as the secret is out.

I still went on and grabbed the domain and development of the site is in progress. It was just too good to pass up! Glad to see sites from our industry doing good on .co's.
