Changing themes on my site: will my ranks be affected?

Hi,


I'm currently working with some themes and I'm thinking of changing to http://newwpthemes.com/. I have a couple of questions, hope you can help me:

1. will my ranks be affected badly if I change the design of my site?
2. does anyone recommend these themes? I'm currently using flytonic but I'm not so satisfied with their design.

Your ranking will be affected, so be sure to submit a new sitemap asap. Also design a good 404 page so people who click the old links will still stay on your site.

A new theme doesn't mean that the urls will change. So I don't see why you need a new sitemap and/or 404.

But a new theme will change the source code. That can have a influence on your rankings.

A new wordpress theme wont affect the text of your content or your site's url structure so it should have minimal affect.

new theme should not affect your rankings if you make sure that the url and page structure stays the same. If the urls or the lnk deapth or something else will be changed then it could be that your rankings will change. further it could be possible that the new theme changes the user experience in a positive or negative way so this could also change rankings.

I just realised that your links probably won't change, so don't worry about that.
I changed my links when I moved, so the sitemap etc. was important. Otherwise everything should stay the same, ranking wise.

Will your rankings be affected BADLY ?
Probably not - but expect some small ups and downs. I would expect SOME change of rankings with a new theme.

While your displayable content will be roughly the same, the new theme will have different features and snippets, and will wrap different code around that text, subtly changing the ratios of code to text and other metrics.

But even if you left your site alone you would expect your rankings to change as the text ages, and becomes less fresh. In some cases it will age well and be considered a benchmark, and in some cases it would age badly and become irrelevant. (sports previews)

I also think it will be having effect to a remarkable extent if you choose baldy. Maybe you should try something with which you think most people would be satisfied.

if your link structure remain same it won't effect your ranking

I have come across many people who have changed their theme and lost rankings.
