Amp makes your webpages load more faster. In seo this is not a ranking factor, but it affects on clicks and impression which results into website ranking.
conversions seem to suffer, cant say i have grown.l. thinking about removing it
Yeah if a website is fast people tend to click around more, thus increasing page views and therefore google sees it as a better site and may improve the ranking of the content that initially brought the user there....
Hi Wonder Punter - Ive been working in online publishing for over 10 years, knowone in paticular told me this, its my understanding from numerous courses on content marketing and networking with webmasters + my own experience from working as a digital marketing analyst. At its core, reducing bounce rate is fundamental in getting better ranking, hence an increase in page views and average time on site is where its at. Why do you ask?
I think fundamentals like Ave. Time On Page and Bournce Rate will always have a part to play in the long run success for SEO. My observations come from drawing my own conclusions based on my own test results from a website with about 1.5 million page views per year and over 15,000 keywords ranked - I guess it is possible that there were co-indidences regarding which contents had good fundamentals and which acheived good SEO ranking. But it makes a lot of sense!
Acording to the Super Affiliate Marco Diversi in his article from Aug 18 he says : "You will only be able to escalate the Google ladder if your site CTR on the SERP and Bounce Rate have good values.
*The bounce rate doesn’t have a direct effect on SEO, but indirectly it has a huge impact.
You can see his article here : https://www.advancedwebranking.com/b...oost-rankings/
Maybe its Not Nonsense afterall - if you look at the larger picuture and acknowlege that your content helps to improve your overall site ranking - that inturn supports and improves specific Meta Tile ranking for individual contents!
I see NO bounce rate or time on page SEO impact. And seriously I donīt want people staying on my sites. I`ll send them asap to an offer.
And that is what they want too. Playing, not reading. The whole content game isn`t for players but for Google.
I can give you a real-life example.
A page dedicated to US players. They searching for live dealer terms. I rank #1-5 for a couple of them. You could think its a niche which needs explanation. And ofc they could find a lot of educational content and videos around the landing page. But they don't want it. Even they don't click it. They come, looking a couple of seconds, then they went to the casino. Even they don't read the review ... and that's it.
bounce rate: 82.32%
pages/session: 1.35
avg. session: 47 sec
3 results:
#1 happy google ranks this site better and better
#2 happy customers start playing and keep depositing
#3 happy affiliate - in December I had just 324 users on that particular (sub)page with horrible bounce rate and low time on page. I send 215 users to the number one casino from the top list only. They converting to 34 signups and 7 FTDīs with an average FIRST deposit of US$578
I wouldn't stay there and increasing positions month by month if Google had a serious problem with my metrics. I fulfill users search intent. Period

Snap. However, question regarding AMP, won't it throw up a bunch of 404's on the AMP pages if removed all of a sudden? This is something I have being looking into and is on my to do list. My main focus was increasing the page speed of the site overall, which I have done. I am wary of removing AMP so would really appreciate your plan to go about it.
Exit stage left
nice average on that first deposit amount!
to stay on topic, with regard to bounce rate, i can imagine that there will be a difference between people clicking back to the google search results (this COULD signal a 'page did not meet expectation of search query', my own thoughts, my own wording, no sources to back this up), and people going forward for instance by clicking on an affiliate link.

I think if the page opens quickly, then there is no need for the AMP. Another thing, if there are problems with the download. My site had excellent speed, but in order to please Google, I connected the APM, if there was a growth in positions, then a minor
