Site valuation/appraisal
Evening gents,
a friend and I started up a site last May more to have our own site about rugby betting than to make an affiliate site just for signups. We put links up to help pay for the site and maybe make a small bit of cash.
Since May though, with some serious efort and a hell of alot of learning and writing and development (i mean ALOT) we've pretty much risen to the top of rugby betting sites. We have an active forum with lots of members, some seriously good content, quality previews, and we built it all ourselves from scratch ( no real tech experience and we learned hard as we went.)
As regards SEO we've got on the front page of google search for alot of 'money terms', things like rugby betting tips, previews and others etc, and for alot of 'team v team', and league search terms ( ie, top14 betting tips).
So i'm just wondering if any of you great people could have a look at it, and give us an idea of how much it is worth/would sell for if we ever had to get rid of it (we do work that is kind of seasonal). And also if you can see any automatic improvements you would make.
the site is dropkickrugby.com, add /forum to the domain to get the forum.
Cheers guys, many thanks in advance for any thoughts

The site looks fine. It's not whizz-bang graphically, but it does present a lot of specific information on European rugby, and I can see why it is riding high in the serps.
Well done.
What isn't a good way to value it is to try and add up all your costs (time, sweat effort, money) and think that the market will return that - let alone get a profit. If you are selling a site - then the market wants to know how effective you've been not how much time/effort and mistakes you've made.
Typically buyers look at cold hard facts and numbers - as the raw data makes things easy to quantify.
There are three ways to value sites in the gambling market :
1) REVENUE MODEL : 6-12 x monthly site revenue if you are selling site with affiliate accounts.
2) USER MODEL : Price per eyeball for registered monthly active users. Usually around $20-$30 per user.
3) LINK MODEL : Price per high PR page. Link sellers can resell 10-20 links per page. You probably need to have PR4, or PR5+ for this to have value.
As you haven't provided the site metrics like user numbers or site revenue then I can't do the maths - but there is three ways to calculate a potential high/low value for your site that provide a good measure.
