    Default Casino ratings from players

    Hi guys,

I've been thinking about adding a player's rating feature to my casino reviews, which wouldn't require a creation of an account and could be done "on the fly".
To get past someone spamming with countless ratings I would allow 1 vote per IP for example.

Has anyone done anything similar or knows of a plugin which does anything like that?

In general I find people who rate things mainly do so when they have had a negative experience, so I do not think this would provide an accurate representation of a casino. However if you do want to give it a shot I used to use "WP Customer Reviews" and found it to be pretty good.

Yeah I've had a similar experience. Unless your site has a big community (think ask gamblers, casinomeister, whichbingo etc..) then you're mainly going to get people who have had a bad experience and want to vent. Plus the odd shill from dodgier casino groups.

many sites have done it .. in the end they just paid others to upvote certain brands otherwise they would never get any conversions.

Aside from what others have said, I'd be careful blocking by IP.

If done wrong, you could be blocking others that might fall into the same IP pool.

I think you should not do that, because I nagative customer prefer to vote than the optimistic customer. The worse case you compititor will vote it

Good answers. That was also one of my concerns - that most votes come from players with negative experience.

So in your opinion in this case (unless I gather a really big community) it would be better to not have customer reviews?

Either you are too small and you need to fake it.
Or you are too big and on one side you get the votes of the angry ones and from the bookies who really have no problem to use VPN or some more advanced methods.

The reviews are a disaster. Trustpilot is a joke.

Slightly better results would/ be / are votes from customers who PAY and who pay repeatedly. Like at booking.com. But since I sleep just in hotels, even those ratings are very non-accurate. There is no normal distribution, so the votes are skewed towards 10. But worse off: the cheap and therefore worse accommodation always has a lot of bonus points when compared to more expensive one. Because people do not expect that much or because simply most people have no money so they do not know better. Also people are often rating just shortly after they leave the host and they often return back and they do not want to leave bad rating etc.

Similarly at Uber, average rating is not 3 or 4, but depending on country between 4.7 to 4.9. And one drunk customer pressing 1 can ruin it way too much.

Ratings from users were a good idea, but it is a nonsense. Yes people probably demand it, so better if you write it there than random internet mob. As for hotels, I stick to ***** rating of experts. This is typical how nice democratical ideas fail short.

    Hi there!
I totally support the idea of player's rating feature to the casino reviews as I really want to do the same on casinosters resource that we developed for a while. However, I would offer to allow 2 votes per IP as a few people can use the same address.
I have also heard that sometimes such plugins can block the users, so if you find the good one, I would appreciate if you can share the software you are going to use.

Better off write a few yourself or otherwise run a proper forum besides your site in case you want real true user reviews.
Or create you company profile on bullsith Trustpilot and link it to you site, and let real users to smash the casinos you promote...

Or just have a think through, maybe put your effort into something else...

For good insight read Sherlock's response, even if you disagree with some of his points, overall he covers it very well.

I have a site with real user ratings and I speak from experience.

If you allow real players to leave a rating, the average rating will be max. 5 on a scale of 10. Maybe 6 for a really great casino, and maybe 2 for a really bad one.

Why? Because who is googling for a casino to leave a comment? Mostly players who are angry because they have lost money. And besides that, most players lose money in a casino, so you already have a much bigger share of players who will not really be happy with the casino.

So just be sure that you are OK with displaying such bad results (even for your best rated casino), because this will mean that most visitors will not sign up through your links. They probably will search around for a casino with better ratings (even if those ratings are fake and even if they end up playing in the same casino that you were reviewing on your site).

Another thing that is worth noting is what products you promote (casino, poker, sports betting). For Casino (slots, roulette, blackjack etc) it would be totally useless, for the other two if done correctly, I guess it would make sense.

We are considering the same thing but with strict guidelines. The goal is not that much to have an objective score of the casino but to boost user engagement. Yes, Trustpilot is flooded with angry players raging against the KYC polices, but I think that can be avoided if using a proper scoring form.

I have added this feature in my forex/online trading website a while ago. The thing is, I did get a few honest reviews here and there, but as some other person in this threat also says, every so often you clearly see paid reviews that are done by brands on themselves on or there competitor reviews. Also: never do this without ReCaptcha, trust me don't do it.

I agree that people usually give ratings when they have a negative experience. Therefore, you need to weigh the pros and cons carefully to avoid getting the opposite result.

I allow user reviews, but i also filter the reviews after posted. By this I mean i reach out and resolve the issue if negative, and if resolved remove the negative review.

Absolutely right, take a look at Trustpilot rankings for operators and they’re almost all very, very poor with awful comments.

Depends on the market, but you might also expirence some spam and low ratings on your sites by bots
