I don't believe I would open it. Too much crap running around on the net right now. I got one of those once.... Thank God for mcafee!

Viruses are transported in a variety of ways these days. If you can see that message and you haven't got any blocking messages, then you're too late. Having said that, if it is a trojan, then it won't get installed until you open the attachment. If you don't know who it's from and what it is, then don't open it. You should never open anything that is downloaded into your computer directly. Always save it and start the correct viewing program to look at items. You can rename an exe as a jpeg, and when someone clicks on it the exe runs. It's one of the dialer install tricks.

It can be that you have sent a mail that haven't reached it's destination however some spammers, virus creators etc. uses this as well in order to trick people into opening the messages. I recommend that you use the following software to keep you safe:

- firewall software (or hardware) like zonealarm, a free program available at www.zonelabs.com . Helps you keep track of software requesting access to and from the Internet.
- Virus software, a lot of try out versions available (f-secure, norton antivirus macafee etc.) and I think there are some free as well.
- Adaware keeps track of spyware software etc. www.lavasoft.de .

If you miss any of the following categories of software it's a good idea to install it.

I agree that it may well be an email that has bounced back.

If so the attachment to the bounce will actually contain your origianl message in text format.

Either way it is safe to delete it.

After I posted that I got another mail just like it. They were a few min. apart so I deleated both of them cause I hadn't sent anything out for a few hours so I played it safe. Thanks for the help!!

Jonda, I've also been getting a TON of those "undeliverable" messages, and they're not the normal ones that systems kick out. The return email addys on them are strange, so I've been deleting every one of them. Better safe than sorry.

Another great program to use is www.MailWasher.net - it lets you preview your mail from the server BEFORE you download it to your computer. A lot of us use it to filter out and *bounce* spam before it gets to our email programs, but it's great for spotting viruses before those emails get downloaded also.

And the blacklist for spam it stores must be infinite - I must have literally 1000's of spam email addys blacklisted, and it's stored everyone of them.

And I believe it's still free.

I went ahead and downloaded it Even though I haven't gotten anymore of those e mail ya never know if they will be sent again
