Submitting pages to google

Hi -

Did anyone use to submit pages to google through this URL: https://www.google.com/webmasters/to...ntinue=/addurl.

I thought it was a way to get pages indexed quicker. Now that tool has gone and Google requires you to submit via site map. If you are creating a lot of content does that mean you need to keep creating new sitemaps? Or will Google index your site automatically. ie. is the site map the quickest route, or can I rely on google?

Thinking about pages like news that need indexing quickly.

If you are creating new content regularly then Google will crawl your site regularly. I use sitemaps with WordPress because it's easy and automatic, there are tools online to create sitemaps for your site if it's not on WordPress.

Hi Mark,

Google is constantly crawling websites throughout the Internet. So basically, every time you do create new content, Google will crawl though your site regularly and will update your website's. I believe that the sitemap is the quickest route, but at the same time, always keep in mind to keep doing social advertising consistently.

I personally use the 'fetch' tool to submit any new pages. Simply copy the url and ask Google to fetch under the crawl tools. You will be updated very quickly if the page has been fully crawled or part crawled including any errors associated with the page.

I have always used Fetch too, but there is no guarantee it will be indexed quickly. Recently it can take a few days, which is a pain when some posts are time sensitive.

One tip I've found that gets posts indexed quicker is to post them on Google+, then to Twitter and Facebook. Usually indexes mine within a few hours. On Google plus, don't paste the URL where you'd normally type, submit it via the button I've outlined in red. https://imgur.com/a/ppjmVei (wont let me embed it)

Of course that google is indexing your site automatically. It can take 1-7 days, but it will be done.

it's more for those that want to index new backlinks.. it's probably 99% of whats submitted there..

I use backlinks on my sites to index a new page or a new domain quickly.
