    Default nuther newbie question

On the stats reports for some of the affiliates there is what is called an impression and a click through. What is the differece

It seems that some affiliates are all over you to join and promise you tons of help for newcomers but after you sign up they seem to forget you exist. When it comes to top billing on my home page I don't forget either. :>)) What goes around comes around

    Hello JT,
The impression is how many times the readers see your banner. The click are how many times they physically click on your banner.

My rule of thumb is that for every 10 impressions, there's a click. For every 10 clicks a signup. For every 10 sign up there's a depositing player. 10:1 rule. This is relatively specific organic traffic. You may have broader traffic that could casue this to vary a lot.

It's also important to note that depending on how the banner is served whether or not you will see the abnner impression stats.

Since I always serve all my own banners direct from my server, I do not use the code supplied by most affiliate programs banner servers and therefore do not see banner impression stats.

Using this method you must be careful to make sure you are using the right link codes, and most affiliate program managers will help you verify this.

If you are having difficulty getting a response from the management of a particular program, let us know here and we can usually help you get in touch with the right folks.

If there is still no response, then you likely want to move on to a different program.

Managers like Adrian above, and a very long list of others, would NOT leave you hanging without a response, so it is possible they are not seeing your emails, or there may be other programs more suited to your needs.

Jctroy440 you are so right, i noticed this on many affiliate sites.
The 10:1 ratio is not that bad at casinos, i was thinking of less.

Adrian you know I love ya and all, but every 10 clicks a sign up?

By that you're saying on average every ten clicks sent, a player will register - but not necessarily a real money depositor.

If that is correct, crap man, I'd probably sign a deal with the devil to see a sign up every 10 clicks.

However having said that, I think that I get a much better ratio of real players - than 1 of 10 that register.

I don't have stats in front of me but off-hand I'd guess about 1 in 6.

I guess it all comes out about the same in the end, I just don't see as many play-money players as others, which in a sense ... makes sense, since I have long advertised in a manner to discourage bonus chasers and freebie types.

    ..........

    To the newbie,

I learned the hard way that just having an AM confirm your codes are correct, may not be the wisest point to stop at.

I've had at least one, and I think two or three (over 10 yrs time) that after confirming my codes were correct, a few months later I go back to check stats (I know, my bad), and nothing is there to show for it.

I contact the AM and he's never heard of me. Strange since I have email confirmation from him.

Which brings me to my last point. I didn't hold onto the emails that confirmed the codes were correct. (I am speaking of an experience with poker stars, but its possible any where), and as such, I had nothing in black and white to back my claims up.

Even though I would think that such a situation could be handled in an aff-friendly manner, resulting in the situation being made right, - but you might run onto another poker stars, who were seemingly more interested in denying my existence than simply following the aff ID that I had, to see if the traffic was coming from a website which I owned.

That should have been enough, but you run onto some real pricks and its sometimes surprising when you discover that the big places can be just as big of scumbags as the smaller ones who at least have that as an excuse for cutting corners (not that it is acceptable). Size, does not come into consideration when ethics are involved.

    ...

ps. Pokerstars you suck and the pro-players who represent it, are very disappointing people in my eyes.
Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.

    Hey Steve!
The 1 registration for every ten clicks has probably migrated to 1:11 or 1:12 in the last year, but still in the same ball park. The reason why is because the traffic is pure organic bringing in Google traffic that's extremely targeted.

Let's say the site is called live-blackjack.co.uk. The site is about live dealer blackjack with bonuses, promotions, rating, and general information on live blackjack in the UK.

So, the reader who come very interested in live "blackjack in the UK". That's why the click to account sign up is healthy.

Now, in order to convert and retain them we have built an internal retention and conversion campaign that keeps the player informed about us and increasingly offers higher bonuses if they haven't played or signed up after a certain amount of time. We are working hard to keep the players playing and more importantly happy with our casinos. We are still progressing in our conversions and retentions. It's getting easier as our brands reputations increase. If anyone wants more info on what we are doing to help convert your sign ups then please email me. I'd like to keep that a little more private, but our affiliates certainly have the right to know how we are treating not only their players but potential players as well.

yea Steve, that's happened to me as well. I've received a few banners from affiliate programs before that came from "outside" the affiliate software. They have been flash and promised me that the codes were correct. They were hardly ever correct and till this day if find those custom codes stop working or expire and I didn't know.

Now, I'm not saying it was on purpose, but I am saying that if it's not in the marketing tools section in the affiliate software then you might want to reconsider placing them. To say it more clearly, place the flash code or affiliate links only if it's in their system, not ambiguously sent by your AM. Why not place it in their system right?
With the non-flash banners you can either host them your self or use the affiliate code as it appears in their systems. I lean towards hosting them yourself.

    Cheers!
