I'm on a train from Karlsuhre Germany to Paris France for the day.

For some of you this isnt going to sound like a big deal... but to me.. o.. m.. ffffff.. g.

Germans really know how to build trains. Fast and comfy.
and and and.. we're traveling about 200kms an hour, and the internet is as fast as we are traveling.

I can only compare this to what we have in Australia - slow internet in most places, even in hotels.

I thought the beer in the London and Dublin tasted good - but the beer in Germany is outstanding. So's the bread.

I love being on trains, that sounds so cool

200 km/h is so fast! How long does it take to get from Germany to Paris? What are you doing in Paris for the day?

Sounds like an amazing trip. Have fun for the rest of us who are stuck at home lol

About 3hrs by train from the place I am staying in germany to paris. right on the border.. so I get to see a lot of things on the western side.

This is my first get away in 6-7years. everywhere I go.. there is always internet available, lets me work.

sounds very nice. the rail system in europe is a nice way to get around, and at high speeds with high speed internet, you can't be mad ...

Mmmmm... Pains au Chocolat, Croissants, Éclairs, Mille-Feuille, Chausson aux Pommes, Madeleines OMG!!!!!!!!! And has anyone ever tasted the real French Macarons? They are heavenly.

Try some of these if you can Rak.

Florida had the chance to have a high speed train, but the jerk Governor here decided the state didn't need the 4.5 Billion dollars....

Oh well, what good is a few thousand jobs created to build it as well as the revenue raised for businesses that would supply the project and workers...

Another case of the government hurting those it claims to serve.

I have never ridden a high speed train such as you describe but it's cool to know they took the time to make sure the internet was stable and fast also.

WTG Rak! I love trains as I use to have to ride one every year with my sister when I was 8 from Ohio to Pennsylvania.

It would be an even better experience if they allowed pets.

I was just in Europe for 42 days... it's not all the trains that have high speed internet. Was on the train for 9 days out of those 3 trains had internet (out of about 20 trains)

Sounds like you are getting lucky, or maybe all the german ones do, the switzerland ones were the ones that had them for me I think. Italy trains were a bit on the ghetto/late side lol

Travel by rail as certainly improved over the years. You can buy 15/30 day full rail passes in Europe which are a bargain if you want to see Europe by rail.

Ended up in Paris.. and jumped onto their Subway system.. Paid about $17 USD for 10 tickets to train it around the city and see all the sites. Thats pretty good value.. was able to get to everything in usually 1-10 mins.

The subways and trains are pretty dirty, but they move a lot of people around.

We ended up getting a EuRail pass to do some cross country border travel and internal Germany travel - worth it.

Where I live in Australia - we mainly have buses, and its quite a chore at how long they take to get to point A to point B .. and really its not that cheap - but then nothing in Australia really is.

Plus it's so damn difficult to work out the fare so you can have the correct change as requested before getting on a bus. Was down in the Gold Coast a few months back and nearly had to pull out the calculator to work it out. Station number of destination minus station number of start plus one times $x was the formula I think.

The metro in Dubai was very efficient and clean. Then again, it's pretty new so that's to be expected. It's also one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest in the world.

In Paris I didn't get into the bakeries.. but I did in Strasbourg - omg.. Croissants and the Pains au Chocolat were heavenly. They were so light fluffy, tasty, and just really full of taste and flavor.

Amazingly... very hard to find a great cup of coffee. Australia still has excellent coffee and Wine. Everything else - it sorta fails.

I'm giving the German bakeries a bit of damage as well.

most first world countries wouldn't be able to get their ass into gear to get internet to the masses. The Germans just seem to really have it together - it doesnt seem to be a nanny state either. Quite free thinking.
