Default Moving part-content to another domain

I have a section - let's say a 'live dealers' section contained within a single folder on website A.com. I have decided the content fits better on my other site, B.com (I have some great domains!). I have read a lot about moving entire sites via htaccess/301 but not very much about moving just part of a site. I assume my process should be:

    1. Delete content from A.com and insert it into B.com
    2. Edit A.com's htaccess file to include all page/folder redirects
    3. ?

Am I missing anything or is it going to be that simple? I'm super-mega-overly wary when it comes to Google penalties and would rather ask a stupidly obvious question and appear noob-ish than get a 12 month slap from G.

Also, clean up site maps both html and xml if they exist, and double check navigation structure throughout the site, and maybe scan the pages in case you might have had any embedded links within content that pointed at the pages moved.

also, you should get any external links to pages that you move to site B updated to link directly to site B instead of redirecting, where possible.

So in a nutshell, as most of the advice applies equally to transferring an entire site, I can safely assume that I'll follow the same procedures for moving part of a site to a different domain.

    Thanks to all for input.

fwiw if the content serves the users purpose on both sites, you can just copy it all to site B and use a canonical hint on each page on site A to the corresponding page on site B... that way you can use the same content to convert / serve users on both sites, without dealing with any duplicate penalty headaches, as you are telling bots/crawlers that the original belongs to site B.

I did wonder about the canonical, but I really want to move the content away from site A so it can focus on its correct niche, and it will naturally be better suited to site B.

If anyone fancies answering canonical questions, feel free to drop in on this lonely thread - https://www.gpwa.org/forum/canonical...ight=canonical

Thank you for the idea. Did make me think.
