Question Does it help if I have popular pages that are not converting

Is it worth writing posts I know that are going to be very popular SEO-wise, if I also know they won't be converting much or at all? (At least converting directly, of course they can bring some interested people to the site as well or I can try to add ads and make them converting but that's not my question.)

I mean does it help the rest of the site rank if there are some super popular blog posts about something else than my main subject? For example if my site is about ice hockey betting and I'm writing a post about TV schedules and the post works, is that valuable itself or is it just waste traffic if I can't get that page to convert?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Is the tv schedule about hockey games and when they air, other sports or cooking shows?

The perfect question. Because (and depending on several other influencing factors) the answer is that every page that ranks has value to the site overall. But all available evidence suggests that only if it has a suitable relationship with the overall topic of the site (or more to the point, what a SE sees/interprets as the topical target of the site).

'Suitable' is a key word, because relationships can be formed/created where on first observation you might think there are tenuous links. But there will be plenty of obvious examples, which I think is where Rick's question would be leading you.

Yes, I've observed many sites improve their gambling rankings with closely related non-gambling content.

For example, if you're targeting hockey betting, you might consider writing the following types of articles to build traffic and get natural links:

    1. Greatest Stanley Cup Victories
    2. Top 10 Forwards of All-Time
    3. Times the Underdog won the Eastern Conference Finals

Of course, these have to be fact-filled, useful pieces that would appeal to serious hockey fans, journalists, and people who actively post to social media. They can't be quick listicles or a string of tweets that you slap together in 40 minutes.

Combining these types of pieces with a hockey betting section would eventually help the site provided you get the required inbound links. Though more research and writing intensive, it would save you the hassle of relying on your betting pages alone as the sole means to be competitive.

Imo it is worth doing. If you have a page on your website that ranks well and gets a lot of traffic - you add a section in that content that some way or another relates to gambling and link to a different page.
Even though there's no way to 100% prove this, but a popular opinion is that such internal links have way more value, which also makes sense.

it depemds on why its possible, if its to see time the game starts or stats then most likely wont convert , you need to check which keywords you rank for and which ones convert and target those
