XLMedia Penalized - Warns of Revenue Hit

Just found this article interesting today, obviously most of us live and die by Google - but it's especially curious to consider the impact of publicly traded companies when stuff like this happens. Kudos to them for owning up to it being a manual action when they could have hid behind the broader core update that happened at the same time. I like the guys at XL media and wish them luck in the recovery process.

One of their sites is casino.se which does show a large drop in traffic around the time of the core update, although it doesn't look like its been demoted manually to me. If a load of their sites got hit then, they all must of been following the same or similar seo strategy. It's going to be difficult to come back from any manual action for a casino affiliate website imo.

Have been looking into this on Ahrefs. Casino.se is most definitely hit, losing 40-60+ positions across pretty much all keywords, many of them previously on page 1. A couple of smaller sites in Finland as well seeing similar losses.

Oef, -40k on casino.se, that is going to hurt. SEO is a tricky business. If you got some SE and FI websites who are doing good and your done with gambling affiliate, consider selling them to XLmedia for the right price
