    Default New Site Advice

    Hey GPWA.

    I had such great and useful feedback last week when I asked you all to take a look at my Online Betting site so I thought I would put my other site up here too and see what people think.

    Be cruel or kind I don't mind. This is very much the opposite to my other site and is designed to really focus on what it says on the tin, latest betting offers.

    www.latestbettingoffers.co.uk

    Thanks in advance

    Hey,

    I like how the site is responsive and mobile-friendly, our project is kind of similar.
    My only problem that was pretty obvious is the infinite wall of text on every page. You need to scroll way too much to get to say the "About us" part - and there is no link to it either. Maybe you could put a box on the left side with the table of contents or something.

    But that's my only issue, otherwise it looks like a very nice site to me (from a user's perspective, SEO and stuff are for the big guys).

    Your site sucks and you suck.

    Now when we have that out of the way, here's my advice. I had to scroll too much to see all these offers as everything is a bit oversized. I understand why you did it like that, that's normal, but sometimes the page actually looks bigger and richer when you downsize the text and therefore squeeze in more info per square inch. The way you designed this site just makes me want to move a bit further away from the monitor in an instinctive but futile attempt to see more info in one field of view.

    Also, I'd expect the entire button to light up when I hover over it, not just the link text. Same with the free bets on the right, the clickthrough rate would dramatically increase if the background turned to dark grey as you hover over each offer. If you need advice on how to do this, ask someone else.

    You don't suck. You're actually pretty good for a noob tutored by a bald idiot. Heaven help us.

    P.S. Can I have one of these nice domains too?

    Lol, cheers. I am not sure I would use the word tutored, more instructed!

    Ok I may try working with a few font sizes and types to get a compromise. I think I will move some of the text further down the page and push the offers up further too.

    I like the idea of the background going grey. I will ask someone else, Baldidiot??????

    Thank for the really positive advice though, and keep it coming if you think of any more.

    yeah the domains are good aren't they, when I've got hundreds I swing you one over

    You rang, m'laud.

    Use :hover on the relevant div. Eg:

    .offerboxclaim:hover {
    background-color: #ccc;
    }

    (change #ccc to whatever colour you want)

    You may also want to change the link as it'll look weird in white:

    .offerboxclaim:hover a {
    color: #820804;
    }

    And if you want to be really fancy you could change the colour of the box and the link when you hover, and then change the colour of the link when you hover over that as well (possibly a little over the top):

    .offerboxclaim:hover a:hover {
    color: pink;
    }

    I agree with Dan though, the boxes could be tweaked. Maybe toning down the buttons would help - use smaller ones on the right hand side perhaps? (alongside the list instead of underneath it)

    Team, I've changed the way the boxes look on the home page after some of your advice. Thanks baldidiot for helping with the code.
    I'm still working on snazzing it up with the changing background colour though.

    Any more thoughts?

    Yeah I think that looks way better.

    You might want to do something similar on the offer boxes on the sports pages as they're also a bit ott buttony. Eg the ones here below the latest offers section: http://www.latestbettingoffers.co.uk/football/

    Btw some of your in-article links don't work (specifically the money back and btts ones)..

    I thought about this but as I don't have a review button on this page the claim button doesn't look right if placed on the right hand side of the box. I suppose I could just shorten the box to about a third of the size and stick it below or in the top bar next to the offer title?

    Cheers for the heads up on the links too.....
